Any ideas on how to defend the Colts

Unfortunately, I'll be working into my 70's. Definitely another 20 years until retirement.

 

Very fortunate with wife allowed me to get out early.

 

Establish the ground game and stick with it. The longer the offense stays on the field the better. Use the TE’s for crying out loud. Keep our defense off the field as much as possible so its their D thats worn out in the 4th quarter, not ours.

 

No complaints here. Sure helps though when you work for yourself. Took off lots of time and traveled a lot when younger with kids at home, so working now keeps the mind shark....shape.....err....shart....oh snap.

 

You sure about that? We can’t cover either.

 

Unless you are a high price D for this team, that is not are problem.

 

And you will continue to watch what does that say about you

 

Watch the steelers do the most steelers thing ever and win this game. Only to get our hopes up and then kick us all square in the balls by losing to crap teams.

 

They need to get at least two turnovers and three or more sacks and hold Taylor to under 100 yards rushing.

 

The best defense is offense.

 

Bring back LeBeau's style of defense. Run the ball and use play action.

@Blast Furnace to answer your original question, the best way to defend against the Colts, is to possess the football.

Let's face it. The Steelers D is not going to magically turn things around.

So the best way to play defense is to keep the defense on the sideline. Dont give up on the run. Keep the clock and the chains moving. Play to win this one ugly. Play a field position game where we are either kicking field goals or pinning the Colts deep in their own territory to start drives.

The Steelers cant outscore the Colts, and we all know they cant defend them. Pull out the Kenny Pickett playbook and try to beat this team 19 to 17. It's the Steelers best bet.

Have the Offense put up 35 points again... somehow. I can say this; if the Steelers are going to somehow, someway, pull off the win, that young Offensive Line is going to have to carry this team basically the entire game. Problem is Colts are the the 8th best Overall Defense against the run and are number three in terms of Opponents Rush Attempts per game via TeamRankings. Even if the team is able to somehow control the line of scrimmage, no way in hell is the Defense going to be able to contain Indy's Offense.

 

You have to stop the run, or at least contain it. No it won't be easy against an elite runner. I've always liked Quenton Nelson also dude's a beast. Need to smack them in the mouth.

Colts fan here. Best way to stop the Colts is keep their offense off the field. Have long time consuming drives that end in tds and try to force jones into making 1 mistake.

I really hate it when players/coaches say things they don't back up. Tomlin and his 'historic' defense are living in infamy right now. Sure hope Queen is right but even so it won't solve the problem of the other 10 guys on offense.

 

Just because Mike Tomlin sucks doesn’t mean I’m going to root for another team. I’m from Pittsburgh I’m stuck with the bum like the rest of us.

 

Sell out to stop the run, and make Jones beat you. Play you best front four vs. the run on down 1 and 2nd and 3 yards or less.
