Muth 1 catch for 11 yards yesterday. He may become redundant.

He had a few effective blocks from what I saw. Of course, he did have the cherry assignment of blocking Devin Bush.

Tomlin said it would be this way against the Browns and why

Cincinnati game will be the same and for the same reason

Freiermuth might be the single happiest person with Arthur Smith moving on

This was the issue with Smith in Atlanta. He didn’t use his best players for some reason.

This is why Arthur Smith will never be a good coach. I know I have made threads that Friermuth is overrated, but Jonnu Smith was actually a negative with his penalties etc. One of the most worthless Steelers signings ever. It had Arthur Smith's stamp all over the signing because he kept getting chances to prove that Arthur Smith was right in signing him. He kept failing to produce. Cut your losses Arthur and put your best team on the field.

Just to add to those stats posted:

Jonnu Smith and Pat Freiermuth were both targeted 54 times to get the numbers posted above.

Smith had 2 drops. Freiermuth had 0 drops.

I enjoy Korza's film break downs but talk about taking a nugget and making a 5 course meal out of it. I think there is a lot more evidence to support what he is writing about but to choose the lazy route and quoting a beat writer's single observation from a practice session is weak sauce. So glad Arthur has moved on with his life's work and that Muth will have more opportunities to show he is a vital part to the offense. Also hoping the force feeding Washington becomes less obvious too.

I mean hes not wrong, it was obvious and a trait of Smiths. One of the complaints about him in Atlanta, too.

Says a lot about Pat's character that he accepted his role and didnt create a stir.

I’m predicting a lot of these posts not aging well this season with Smith and Smith gone

Were smith and or smith responsible for muth running ****ty routes? Drifting through zones? Whiffing on blocks?

I think it was a Tomlin problem, not a Freiermuth problem.

It was Arthur Smith playing favorites. Muth didn’t have any problems running routes and understanding zones in Smiths first season here.

His blocking is terrible I’ll give you that.

It was a Tomlin problem because he hired A Smith.

But this is a Smith problem. He did the same thing in '24 with Patterson.

There were guys he likes that he gives way too many snaps.

The thing I worry about in '26 is that we'll mostly be an 11 team and that we'll play Muth more snaps than Washington (who I think is great because of the matchup problems he causes). Honestly, this is maybe the one reason I'm happy about Rodgers coming back. Because I think last year he realized "hey, that guy who looks like an OT can catch and run too...maybe I should throw him the ball". I still think it's crazy that Washington only has 2 TDs. He should be basically uncoverable in the end zone (although we've seen that he won't be good with inaccurate passes there because it's hard to change direction of an aircraft carrier).

Well he ran poor routes and drifted through zones to the tune of about 650 yards and 7 TDs so that was a great call by Smith to go to his guy for 200 yards and 2 TDs.

And last year in his Smith diminished role his yards per reception actually went up 19%
