Why did you leave Pickett out of your statistics? His teams are 1-0 in games he started since he left Pittsburgh.

Your first sentence does not accurately represent what he wrote. He simply resisted the oversimplification in your argument.

I didn't use Pickett because he was a backup on a SB winning team, and not a starter. When he is the starter for a team for a few games I would have.

That sounds like a weak excuse to leave him out. Wilson isn't the starter for the Giants any longer, either.

Wilson's teams haven't won any games he started since he left.
Fields's teams haven't wone any games he started since he left.
Pickett's team won the only game he started since he left.

That would be the accurate way to do it.

    Why do you do this??
    Seriously??
All the other guys I did were starters for their teams for the record I posted. Kenny Pickett came in for one game on a team that had already won 13 games, and everyone knew he wasn't the starter, and he didn't even finish that game. LoL
You know this, I know this, but as usual, you are looking for a argument..LoL.

Pickett threw a TD and had another 50 yard TD pass overturned where he ran it in from the 1 yard line.

They were up 24 to 7 at half time.

but honestly, I have no idea what your point is for these other QB’s not winning elsewhere.

WTF does that have to do with Kenny being 14-10 whole those other QB’s with much better TD stats were 15-13 for the Steelers?

People kept saying winning ugly with Pickett wasn’t sustainable because we wouldn’t be able to beat teams who scored a ton of points.

I’m just showing that all those stats from the other QB’s didn’t result in anything positive for our team when it mattered most.

and if AR throws 30 TD’s but we still finish 9-8 or 10-7 and don’t advance in the playoffs I’m not going to be celebrating his stats either.

But, when you go to Ben's version, he never went to the coaches either. Or seldom. He claims he went to the other QBs, or to Fichtner. I think there has to be a certain level of understanding football once you make it to the NFL. Dobbs is smarter than Ben. That's just a fact. But on the football field Ben looked like the genius rocket scientist. I think Dobbs came in during a specific time when the Steelers, specifically, didn't need to spend much time with the QBs. You only get so many hours a week with these guys already. I think the article talks on that aspect as well.

Sounds to me like Dobbs wanted to know the 'why', but the actual QB for the team already knew so the coaches didn't spend any time on that with QB3. And we all know Ben wasn't the mentor type.

and this is something they always do.

“Kenny won because they knew he wasn’t the starter”

    or

“They already won 13 games so whatevs”

but if he started and lost that game they would jump all over it.

Again for the 2nd, or 3rd time. You were talking about wins, and losses without stats, and I gave You wins, and losses of Qbs that played here, and what they were since they left as a Starter. Trying to show that the Steelers coaching can win games with pretty much any Qb. Not all ,but many.
Again, I didn't put Pickett in because......
    1. He wasn't the Starter for that team.
    2. He came in on the next to last game of the season on a team that had already won 12, or 13 games that season, and he didn't even finish that game.
Again. Nothing more , nothing less.

    No you may do that.
    Is freaking simple.
Every Qb I gave the record of was the Starter, and Pickett wasn’t. Why is this so hard to understand. LoL. :lolol:
GEEZZZZ. Not everyone thinks like you two appear to do.

I think Pickett should get credit for this game. Not sure how much credit he should get for the loss the week before (wk 15). Came in off the bench, but threw 24 passes (completed 14) for 143, 1 TD, 1 INT. 1 fumble. 3 rushes for 13 yards (no TD).

But I think there are two big reasons Philly moved on from him. (1) He got hurt in this game and couldn't play the next week. This happens to him a lot. I didn't watch this game, but with us he seemed to have no sense for where the pressure was coming from and often spun right into it. (2) Their QB3 came in. Also won. Looked at least as good as Kenny did (both small samples that don't mean all that much). 27/41, 267 yards. 2 TDs (Kenny has only had 2 TDs passes in 1 game in his career). So PHI figured keeping Kenny over McKee wasn't worth a 5th rounder and Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Seems like stories like this come out during the bye week because they have deadlines.

I still want to know what Dobbs means by the “why”

anyone who watched the Commanders game saw D. Smith drop a game sealing pass over the middle.

and he didn’t lose that fumble but I know you added it to give more flavor to his stat line.. lol.

Here is the drop. Smith probably scores if he catches it.

    https://m.youtube.com/shorts/r9Bw1yi2YlI

and if you watched the Cowboys game you saw him throw a second TD that replay said was down at the 1. Its Philly.. you know what they do on the GL.

I really don’t see the issue with running for a TD instead of passing for one. Its still 6 points.

One thing I agree with is the injuries. Too many of them and McKee is the prototypical QB when it comes to measurables. Dude is a giant and looks like an old school QB.

what’s funny is Burrow and Lamar and JJ McCarthy and Purdy.. all hurt again but Kenny is somehow the most injury prone QB ever. He does get hurt too much but I think its overblown when you look around the league.

I think it all depends on the program and system they were in when they were in college. In Rudolph's case his program ran almost exclusively from the spread offense with him seeing snaps from shotgun as the predominate formation. After he was drafted they asked his coach at Oklahoma St about him not taking snaps under center and how he would do in that offense. The coach had all the confidence in the world with MR's work ethic and said he would learn to take snaps under center and work hard to excel at it. Three years in he still struggled at taking snaps under center and running a pro style offense. He was more comfortable in shotgun and spread formations.

I know this is in reference to Dobbs' secondary career path I get that but of all the things I would call Ben on a football field rocket scientist isn't one of them. Gunslinger, competitor, gritty, tough and maybe the best I can say is a real football player but he wasn't cerebral, he struggled at reading defenses and looked for the big play instead of the right play much to often. It worked for who he was. He was never going to be Manning, Brady, or Rodgers. He was like Farve and Elway.

So Pickett had one decent mop up game with a great Eagles team. Great for him. Mitchell Trubisky has a 6 TD pass game to his credit with a less talented Bears squad. Just for context on how much (little) that one Eagles game should count in evaluating him.

That isn't a good point to make IMO. I could see if these other QB's went to solid orgs but the Giants, Jets and Titans are pretty terrible organizations.

but its also weird to not put Kenny in because he wasn't the starter. Dallas is a rivalry game regardless of records and it wasn't a throw away game. They were clinching the division and still in the hunt for the #1 seed.

I'm sure if Kenny threw 4 INT's and lost by 20 you would include that game as an example of why he stinks.

but again, I think your point doesn't work well.

that makes no sense at all.. lol.

it should count as one game. Why is that so hard to do? If he lost, you all would count it.

This is true, Ben's best attribute was being big as hell and hard to bring down.. and he had a big arm.

But did Dobbs really need a why for a play action pass or a why for throwing to AB even if he was doubled on some plays?

Did he really need a why for a 5 step drop vs a 7 step drop on plays?

This all reads like a guy who is smart as they come but couldn't make it as a franchise QB. Maybe it's because he was asking why while other QB's were going thru reps and perfecting their timing?

I find the Kenny debate amusing. Steelers moved on from him for the following reasons:

    1. He had a weak arm
    2. He had very bad pocket presence
    3. He was, at most, an average scrambler

Nothing else mattered - it was the right decision based on Kenny's lack of skill to ever be a franchise QB. Why they drafted the guy in round 1 is mind boggling.

Seriously, does anyone even remotely think Kenny can outplay Rogers this year? If not, then Kenny was not going to be a franchise QB because the Steelers want/need a Rodgers caliber QB and they should keep changing until they get one.

The bengals and seahawks finish the 2023 season at 9-8.The bengals were also 4-3 without Burrow...Both teams were not very good but incredibly easy opponents???

No especially not for the steelers who were in a ugly 3 games losing streak, losing against two awful 2-10 teams in 5 days at home!
The steelers were a true dumpster fire before the first start of Rudolph

Kenny were also unable to beat the commanders despite 5 turnovers by the great eagles defense

Dallas defense were trash like crazy in 2024 too

    All true

They also moved on from him when they signed Wilson and told Kenny he would have to compete for the starting job and it would not just be handed to him

Then rather than compete he asked to be traded

Nobody wants a quarterback who is afraid/unwilling to compete

And he will never have the opportunity again

Again. Geez! I would not have ,because he wasn't the starter. The others were the starters of those teams .
Look, I gave information on the guys that started here, and then started on other teams this year, free of charge. LoL.
What You do with that information , or how You feel about said ifo is up to you.
I don't see the what the problem is. Geez
