It's an offense driven game now and has been for over a decade, we need a change in philosophy.

People only bring up this nonsense when the team is struggling, I heard Kaboly say recently that Austin is making the calls FWIW. Go watch Bowles with Tampa Bay and Ryans with the Texans two defensive HCs who call their own defense, and notice the difference of Tomlin on the sideline with no play sheet .

The Patriots lead the league in sacks you can bet they will be coming after Rodgers.

I wouldn't have a problem with that if our defense were really good and also really well coached.

But that's not the case, especially since Watt is on the decline and no longer super human.

The scary part? They don't blitz all that often so they are hitting home with a four man rush.

Also, you can run the entire defense or offense even if you don't call the plays and have no play sheet

I mean, just to look the patriots in the Belichick era...It was not him who was called the play on defense but we all know it was him who was running their defense with the gameplan adjustement, etc

So Mike Tomlin is a genius???
He calls all the signals, blitz, and different alignments off the top of his head, while anyone that has watch one game sees the DC with a big play sheet calling the plays on the sidelines. So not only is Tomlin a genius, he is a awesome ventriloquist. LoL. No freaking wonder they don't want to fire him.
Maybe we can get him to call the other teams plays also. Sounds dumb doesn't it???

    LoL
Have You ever watch the coaches on the sidelines???
You know what HC calls play for real. Andy Reid He sits, or walks around with his big play sheet, and you can see him calling plays on the offense. Show me one freaking time you have seen Tomlin do this???
Hell I've listened to wired up, and You can hear the OC, and DC calling plays on our team. I've even heard the OC say he was going to run a certain play at the goal line, and ask Tomlin what do you think, and he told him it better be a TD call. So I don't get where you people come up with this stuff.

Anytime the play that show on ESPN wired up, You can hear our DCs, and Ocs calling plays, and sometimes you can even hear them ask Tomlin what he thinks, but most of the time it's just the OCs, and DCs doingthe calls. Of course all HCs are going to say something here , or there at certain points, that's what they do. Now a guy like Andy Reid calls his plays on offense, you can clearly see him doing it on the sidelines, but when the D is out there sometimes he's not even paying attention.
All of this stuff is easily seen going on the sidelines.

    My disturbing defensive stat:

Steelers are allowing too many points per game. Need to fix that.

Then he wasn't really running the game day defense same as Tomlin, of course guys like that are going to be heavily involved in the game planning and schemes. I have yet to see a coach that is that much of a genius they can call a game without calling the plays or without a play sheet .

You can blame the coaches all you want but the players need to execute the plays still, Payton Wilson taking the wrong angle to make a tackle that's on him.

Not "just for show", but there's a whole world in between that and letting the DC run his own offense. On some teams the DC gets to run the defense. In this case it seems like Butler got to work with the defense, but they were doing it Tomlin's way, and Tomlin called the plays. Butler said it, and it happens, it's a real thing. It also makes a lot of sense. Why don't you believe it?

Sometimes coaches put players in impossible to execute positions. Example, last season I remember a play call that had Austin trying to block a DE. Yea, that's gonna work out just fine.

Thor put's his hammer into the nail, which will become an early 2025 coffin if the coaches do not change things quickly.

That is a coach ( Butler ) who's pointing the finger at his boss.
