The quality of movies has hit new lows. It is becoming like Rock and Roll. Most of the best actors are dead or aging. In 20 years it might be... who are the best actors under 50? See my point?

An old neighborhood friend of mine is in the business and treats me to critics screenings 3-7 days before the movie is publicly released.

I don't know if I would call it a 'shift' exactly, but more and more mainstream big budget movies are going straight to streaming services. I don't know but I'm guessing, the streaming services have deals with studios for exclusives and such to sell streaming subscriptions, maybe.

There are still the box office movies for every season. I think those are for us older generation people that still think of movies in terms of theater experience. Even that has changed. Reclining seats, staff brings your popcorn to you at your reclining seat. Some have full service grills. You can eat a steak dinner that you order and a staff member will bring to you while you're watching a movie in a recliner. With a beer.
I went with my wife to see the Fantastic4 movie. IMAX screen in Dolby Atmos. The seats rumbled.

For me the game changer in movie-going will always be the reserved seating. I was never a fan of waiting in line, only to be stuffed in the corner for a popular movie.

I wonder when kids will have no idea about this strange concept of "waiting in line". :)

Also, I think a big change is that you can now buy Theater movies from your home for about $20 when they are still playing in theaters. To me this is a brand new concept since Covid, being able to pay $20 for a 1 day rental.

I haven't been to the actual theater since Avengers Age of Ultron.
I believe that was in 2015. So about 10 years. A guy a few rows behind me , and my friend was sneezing, and coughing through the whole movie. 2 days later I was laying on the floor thinking I would die for about 3 days, one of my buddies had to go to the doctor, and one was actually hospitalized. I haven't been back since. I wait till I can watch them another way now. There are so many movies released a week that I can't keep up anyways.

The movie going theater experience has obviously increased. IMAX, the seats and the sound are top notch. But the cost of a ticket, popcorn, soda, and candy have gone way up, while the new releases have declined in quality.

Who are the top actors under 50? Best directors under 60? See my point?

Esnestianly most of the top movies are sequels / prequels , and Marvel / DC movies. Comedy movies have taken it in the shorts. There is very little originality left in general.

The Oscars are crap these days because I say the product has greatly declined.

But I am still a fan of the movies in general.

That's nothing new. If you saw the movie "Earthquake" in a theater, you know what I mean!

I just streamed Nobody 2 and I enjoyed it for a good action movie. Nice to see they gave Christopher Lloyd some more screen time in this version.

I will also admit that I think they I would have preferred the Version with Johnny Cash singing Ring of Fire, rather than their Tribute Band remake of the song.

I couldn't wait for the Queen movie to come to TV so that was and will be the last movie I ever see in a movie theater.

He had a serious role in a Netflix limited series called The Spy. Based on a true story of an Israel spy. He did an outstanding job.

It was a pretty good movie, but I waited until it was on showtime/HBO, or whatever I watched it on

What classic would you really love to see make a return to the big screen?

Rules: Has to be pre-1975 and the original version.

My pick would be: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
I've seen it so many times in my life already. Just one of my all-time favorites. I would love to see it on the big screen.

I really liked Total Recall. I thought the remake was trash.

Bullitt and French Connection for the scenes they have in common. :thumbs up:
Favorite since '75 was Twister. Saw it 4 times in the theater. Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan were great in the Theater.

I guess I would say Jaws, and or a big a$$ budget Day of the Triffids, and maybe one of my favorite westerners of all time....Once Upon a Time in the West, but they have to use the same score/music, scene for scene.

Last night just watched (on a fluke) a 2016 movie called Elvis & Nixon on Prime. Never heard of it before but was enjoyable to me and the Lady. It's a comedy/docudrama about when Elvis visited Nixon at the White House in 1970 and had a special request. The guy doing Elvis is OK (too thin) but Kevin Spacey as Nixon is a riot and so well done. It takes a while to get going but the actual meeting of the 2 is hilarious.

Recently watched Predator: Killer of killers.

Animated movie so I wasn't sure about it. Turns out, very good movie. Would have been the best of the franchise had they made that one live action. Great story telling, IMO.
