Considering that Austin's and Meyers contracts are up?! Jettison them both if this continues. Dunbar needs to stay. He isn't 100% at fault for the horrific drafts that Pittsburgh had under Colbert and Tomlin. Dunbar is the only positional coach who isn't in danger as far as I see it.

Benton hasn't been too good either but Black and Harmon (what little we saw from him) have been rock solid hits. Keep adding good pieces for Dunbar to work with. Karl Dunbar is leagues better a IDL Coach than Pat Meyer will ever hope to be a OL Coach.

Go look at Dunbars Resume. Wherever he goes?! Pro Bowls and All Pros follow in his wake; three first team ones for Cameron Heyward himself. Cannot say the same for Meyer.

I truly believe Benton can be a really good player... if he is failing I blame the coaches and/or the scheme.

There is stagnation on both offensive and defensive lines...I have no issue getting rid of Meyer or Dunbar.

I think Dunbar is part of the problem when it comes to Benton, he insists on keeping him at NT when he's ineffective. This is year three for Benton where is the progress and development.

Benton is being used as a nose tackle. He is not a nose tackle. They have a bunch of guys who are best suited to a 4-3 defense, but they refuse to make go through the growing pains of making that adjustment.

So again, that isn't a Dunbar decision. That decision befalls on both Austin and Tomlin. A positional coaches primary job is to teach the basics, fundamentals and discipline of the position that they are responsible for.

Dunbar may have input on specific schematics. As far as personnel from a game planning perspective?! That is all on both Tomlin and Austin.

Remember that Austin stated after the draft that they didn't view Yahya Black as a NT. For that matter, he has now been recently been stated to say he doesn't know where he should put him. If that isn't Coordinating Malpractice... I am not sure what is.

And when Benton was drafted Dunbar insisted he was a NT.

    Fantastic.

That was in 2023 when Dunbar had input. Now?! I seriously doubt he has much. He hasn't been to the podium as much sans Derrick Harmon. For that matter, Austin's schematics are not what they used to be either.

Benton may not be a GOOD nose tackle, but he is a NT. It is the only position he has ever played in both college and the pros.

When he was at Wisconsin, he played the same as he does for the Steelers. Plays where he looks like an all star and then plays where he gets tossed around like a rag doll. Too often ends up on his backside.

I disagree. He's presenting a run of time that, while starting midway through 2020 season, is equivalent to over 4.5 seasons. Cherry-picking would involve removing bits and pieces of other seasons along the way.

If you go back to 2018 through now the 11-0 run is much more the outlier, and the general trend since 2014 isn't good:

    2014-25: 113-67-2 (.621)
    2016-25: 92-56-2 (.613)
    2018-25: 68-48-2 (.576)
    2021-25: 40-31-1 (.556)
    2024-25: 11-8-0 (.578)

    Which again, proves the point.

Austin and Tomlin are the ones dialing up the schemes. Dunbar doesnt havw anything to do with them. The end.

    Case closed.

For years whenever we got together to talk about life and how to live it, interspersed amongst his rantings about Green Bay's defense my dad used to claim defensive coordinators made poor head coaches. Back in the day I thought he was being overly pessimistic, in the modern era he may have a point.

Nobody gives a crap about the last 5 games of a season say what the record is for the whole 2020 season, he's cherry picking to fit his narrative.

Austin makes Matt Canada look competent. He should have been fired after the mess last season. The gross lack of accountability has long been the problem here. I swear, I'd love to see them just go rogue at this point and bring in some old warhorse like Rex Ryan.
