You guys suck!! Man has been a true Steeler, a Warrior, and ya’ll quickly turn on him, sickening !!

Maybe he took this add-on deal because he wants to compete with his Brothers, go to battle with his fellow warriors, more than he wanted the extra money. Maybe he wants a RING!!! Maybe he doesn’t need training camp but instead needs to be healthy and strong late season and playoffs!!!!

Eh, Loudermilk and Ekaule, sure, but they both stink. I thought Black had some good moments. Benton has regressed but he needs to be playing DE.

Actually, I totally agree. Black had a few bad snaps but he is a late rd draft pick rookie. I think he may be a Draft Steal!!!

I don't buy Benton is a bust... who has Karl Dunbar coached up.... honest question?

When players fall off they fall off quick... I think Tomlin needs to be quick to pull the trigger if Heyward needs to be benched.

I get it. But there is a difference in how it’s done. No need to be hateful, insulting in the way I keep reading .

I'm losing track of threads... but I said somewhere I think Heyward-Black-Benton could be a good front. Heyward looked like he wasn't in game shape, Black was playing his first NFL game, and Benton was playing out of position. So, we could see all of those problems get solved as the season goes on. Then Harmon comes back and the deep depth guys can be just that. The LBs are supposed to be a strength this year. All of that sounds like a good front 7, so I'm hopeful it gets there, but it stunk yesterday.

I'd just go with the youth movement now... Black-Benton-Harmon.

Doesn't Cam have a podcast he needs to do?

Mash, go look up performance- based incentives and get back to us. Better yet, go find the particulars of said incentives added to Heyward's contract, links to which have already been posted here.

When play falls off quick, it's time to look for a hidden injury. You don't go from being a stud one week to ho-hum the unknown guy 2 weeks later unless there is something going on.

I don't hate the dude, and don't begrudge him his money, but he was a big reason they were running it, continuously at him, and Highsmith Because of no real practice, he's out of shape.

Well, you never know… maybe he wanted more money because he got a medical diagnosis and he knows this is it for him…

Plus, we rode with Troy for about two seasons too long, when he was a shell of who he was. We know the organizations shies away from making the tough decisions.

Yeah, not really. You're still proclaiming he got $3M.

I don't think you're understanding how performance incentives work.

I just looked he took less than crumbs

He gets a couple of incentives this year and they cut his roster bonus for next year from $12.95M to $875,00

This dingleberry held out for a pay cut

It must be his last season and somehow he tried to save face

    Go Omar

No wonder you no longer hear a peep out of Boswell

The sweetener added to Heyward's contract features a chance to earn $3.2 million in incentives. He gets half the amount if he reaches eight sacks and the Steelers make the playoffs. He gets the other half if he records 11.5 sacks and the Steelers win a playoff game.

Pro Football Talk reported details of Heyward's contract and added that his roster bonus in 2026 will be reduced from $12.95 million to $875,000 if he doesn't play at least 30% of all defensive snaps this season. That provision protects the Steelers against a serious injury to Heyward.

I know nothing about this side of sports, but the way you are stating it, he should have stayed with the original contract, unless he really believes that he can do all this. Of course because I don't know anything about this stuff, I could be totally incorrect.

Or it’s effectively the same contract, but “reworked” so Cam saves face.

The whole scenario looks silly to me. Heyward may be able to trigger the first $1.5M, but despite how well he's held up to Father Time thus far, the chance of duplicating last year's sack total has to be seen on the wrong side of the probability meter for him. And 11.5? He's only hit that mark once in his career. Plus the whole thing is moot unless the team gets to and/or wins a playoff game anyway.

The 30% snap share condition for his roster bonus next year seems equally pointless. If he were to suffer an injury serious enough to knock him below a 30% snap count, he'd either be retiring, or retired by the team, before the bonus triggered next spring. And if he comes in at 28% and wants to return, is there going to be another late summer hold-in for more incentives in '26?
