I don’t exactly remember the stats but I read that approximately
60% of 1st rounders make a pro bowl
25% of 2nd rounders
5% of 3rd rounders
Remaining 10% from all other rounds and free agents.

people keep bringing up Brady but he’s the extreme exception

10 out of 37 in BCS era (including poll champions). Carson Palmer, Vince Young, Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston, Deshaun Watson, Tua, Lawrence, Burrow, Mac Jones

Then again there are 10 not drafted that didn't make the NFL - e.g. Chris Leak, Josh Heupel, Jake Coker

And of course the curious case of Tim Tebow

 

Jalen Hurts won a national championship and is a pro bowl QB. He won with Alabama even though he was benched in favor of Tua in the title game.

 

Why would he draft him in the 1st if he could get him in the 6th

 

According to some people on here the ONLY way to get a franchise quarterback is to draft in the top 5 overall pick group of players. Everyone else sucks. Steelers got lucky drafting Roethlisberger at 11.

Steeler sucked because of Tomlin’s defense. After, Cowher’s coaches and players left, Tomlin couldn’t do anything even with a top franchise qb. In recent years, the best player in the nfl on defense has saved his ass. Tomlin has been incredibly lucky to have great players, but he has sucked. He has never out coached anyone in playoffs. The one SB he has was due to Deebo freelancing and getting a pick six and a miracle throw and catch in the same game. There is no Tomlin coaching tree. Steelers will never win a sb with him as a coach.

 

What about Johnny Football Manziel? Never heard so much hype for a player.... even more than Tebow.

 

I got a chuckle out of that. I've never heard that used before.
