Charlie Batch needs to secure that ball, it looks like he's going to be stripped.

Interesting facts about John "Blood" McNally (top picture):
    • Played multiple positions: tailback, wide receiver, quarterback, punter, and defense
    • Was en route to a semi-pro tryout with a friend and wanted a pseudonym in order to preserve his amateur status in case Notre Dame (who had previously kicked him out) asked him to return. Passed a theater where the movie Blood and Sand was playing and told the friend, "I'll be Blood, you be Sand."
    • Was given the nickname "The Vagabond Tailback" for his ability to play multiple positions with multiple teams, and for once riding the metal girder between train cars to a game in order to avoid paying for a ticket.
    • Once played an entire game with a collapsed kidney
    • Curly Lambeau offered him a contract to play for Green Bay on a salary of $100 per week, $110 if he didn't drink after Wednesdays.
    • Was a player and coach of the Pittsburgh Pirates under Art Rooney
    • Part of the inaugural class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1963
    • Enlisted in the Air Force after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, eventually becoming a cryptographer

Ed Brown was a pretty good QB back in the early 60's for the Steelers, he was the teams punter too.

Quite a duel threat with Ed Brown and Bobby Layne at QB. Lou Michaels was a pretty decent place kicker too. My Sister's best friend started a fan club for Michaels and my Sister did for good old Bob Friend of the Pirates. Big thrill when Friend came to our house to drop off signed photos for his Fan Club members. Back when life was simple and egos were in check.

Ted Marchibroda: only person to have three stints as head coach for two franchises, each in two cities, but no two tenures being for the same franchise in the same city:
    • Baltimore Colts, 1975-79
    • Indianapolis Colts, 1992-95
    • Baltimore Ravens, 1996 - 98

Bill Macklin wore #13 for the Steelers in his final season in 1953. No one wore it again until Jeremy Kapinos in 2010.

    Kicking facts of yore:
    • Though a Pro Bowl selection in '72 and ''74, Roy Gerela spent most of his eight years in Pittsburgh with a career FGM% between 51 and 64%.
    • No NFL team had a dedicated Special Teams coach until Dick Vermeil's hiring by George Allen in 1969 - the Steelers didn't have one until 1987.
    • Allen was also the first to have a dedicated roster spot for a long snapper, in 1971 - the Steelers didn't have one until drafting Kendall Gammon in 1992.

Wish I could have seen it. Sounds like my type of player, but I don't like to comment on players I didn't get to watch.
