My Dad used to make us eat it once a week, because it was "good for us". Gotta get that iron. I couldn't even stand to be in the kitchen while my Mom cooked it (while gagging half the time). If someone says they like it, ask them why they have to smother it in onions to make it edible.

i prolly commented earlier in this thread but i would say:

70% scheme (and that is 60% coaching - AKA - the Tomlin Defense)
    30% players

last year, we had strong talent on that Defense.

and MOST the league (opposing players) knew what and when we were running. They reported it, Post-Game.

I like it with or without the onions. Beef liver or chicken liver. I don't eat it anymore due to gout issues, but I have even ordered liver at a restaurant.
I have heard that people taste it differently. Sort of like cilantro. I like cilantro but my daughter says it tastes like soap to her.
Apparently, there is a taste bud difference for people when eating spicy hot foods as well.

Somehow we still beat 10 of those teams. How bad are they?

how did you like our finish? Seems you LOVED IT

could not beat good teams, we beat BOTTOM FEEDERS for the most part.

an occasional slip up, and beat a good team.....

But... if those teams knew what was coming it should not have been close. In that case, either we were really good at what we did, or they were too bad to stop us.

Who is talking Tomlin. You were saying the other teams knew what plays we were running, yet we were still able to win 10 games just last season. That would mean either we are good at what we do, or they are really bad. Both can be true, but at least one has to be true in order for what you say to be the case.

It happens all the time. I point it out all the time. Start getting on the board, on game day thread, and I will show you. Thing is , most people never notice it unless it happens to us, they don't see it.

The D gets tired when the O routinely goes 3 and out. That doesn't help.

I don't, I just like it that way. I eat it without onions, but that's like saying for example: French fries suck because people dip them in ketchup

Yeah, I used to tell My opponent , hey You drop your shoulder every time you're going to throw a left hook....yeah no....no opponents tell teams things for their sake, but You believe they do. Like when everyone just knew what plays we were running in 2020 as Ben threw 33 tds, and we won 11 straight. They just let us win....thank You nice NFL opponents. Of course you believe this.

I was listening to the Ramon foster show awhile back and he talked about this very thing. In at least one game the Steelers did in fact tell the opposing defense what was coming. If I remember correctly it was against Cincinnati.we kept running off lg/lt. Bell was picking up big chunks each time. The line is telling them we’re running it again. Try and stop it. Think this was the same game the red rifle quit at the end. Bell talking about it with cam

Definitely coaching and schemes. No imagination from the coaches and being predictable week in and week out.

I loved LeBeau. My only frustration with him was are in ability to defend Brady. I wanted us to play press man and mix it up more against Brady.

I think they did. Tomlin gets enamored with pedigree and big names too much. The defense is very very vanilla in both our blitzes or lack there of and our coverages. We primarily play a cover 3 to prevent the deep pass and tackle the throw in front of us. Thats why you see a ton of completions against our defense and a bend but don’t break philosophy. We give up a ton of yards and long drives and the hope is somewhere along the way we create a turnover or hold them to a field goal.

The issue with this style of play is against better teams they don’t make the mistake in turning the ball over and those field goals often turn into Touchdowns. Not only that but as the game progresses are defense often gets tired from being on the field so much. IN addition as the season progresses our defense gets worn down and often succumbs to alot of injuries. You ever notice how our defense seems to be a shell of itself late in the season and we usually have multiple injuries we are dealing with. The way we play our coverage it really does not fit well with a four man rush it is counter effective to it. We basically play prevent coverage with four man rush. If the offense max protects against us or they double Watt it essentially gives the Qb all day to dink and dunk his way down field on underneath crossing routes.

I don’t mind playing cover 3 but not all the time like we do. Mix it up with man to man or quarters etc. Disguise your coverages pre play and certainly disguise the blitzes and rush the ILB or NB more. Utilize a five man rush more or at least disguise like your going to rush five and drop an ILB back into coverage. We don’t seem to do any of that. You see teams with inferior talent to ours like Minnesota or KC and they are way more innovative on Defense and as a result they are more effective.

It would be very interesting to compare the Steelers first half of the season defensively verse the second half of the season defensively over the last five years. Something tells me there is a big difference in the stats.

They should not have let Flores get out the door. I put that on Tomlin who wants to run the defense alone. But you also have to have smart players that know the playbook and can actually execute the plays. Last season was a mess of communication problems.
