There is no motive for them to lie with moving Minkah, it’s not a questionable trade.

I would question the beat writer, whether it’s his opinion or got it from a source. Find it hard to believe Minkah was the root of communication issues.

Broderick Jones is the headline. I want him to succeed; would love nothing more than that. That said, hes gotta show that he can.

None of the reports are from reputable sources that I've seen. Just some troll fans trying to stir up BS. He became trade-able when his production started becoming less than what his paycheck demanded. But to say he was a problem child seems unwarranted.

The addition of Smith could force Connor Heyward off the roster . The Steelers ran 13 personnel more than any other team last year, that will be a tough matchup for defenses to cover Muth and Smith.

Once again, 9 season for Smith, very good season last year. Hopefully he can keep it up.
Is this Muths 3 or 4 yr? Muth is one concussion from being out of NFL

AR has never really played in a TE heavy offense.

There is a pattern of these reports coming out once a player is gone. Fitzpatrick is just the latest.

I don't know how you can say this is not a questionable trade. Many of the opinions are negative. Fitzpatrick is a three-time All-Pro, still only 28 years old. He has a reputation as a good guy and locker room leader. Ramsey is 30 and has already shown declining skills. He is a malcontent. Smith can be another weapon, but if you just put a bunch of tight ends out there, it is a hell of a lot easier for the defense to match up.

Of course, that is one way to look at it. Another is that Fitzpatrick's play had declined significantly, Ramsey can still play, and Smith gives them another much-needed weapon on offense.

I'm somewhere in the middle. Fitzpatrick didn't just stop making big plays. I think defenses started figuring out how to get him out of position to go deep. It happened way too often this past season.

I see a lot of thoughtful people here and elsewhere who are at least unsure about this one, if not outright thinking it is a bad deal. Floating the idea that Fitzpatrick was the one freelancing and screwing up communication in the defensive backfield all last season makes this an easier sell.

I look at it as they got two versatile starters for a declining player, I think defenses could have problems matching up with Muth, Jonnu, Metcalf and Warren on the field at the same time.

Muth hasn't had a concussion the last two seasons IIRC, I don't expect Smith to match his stats from last year because he won't be TE1. But if he can produce 500-600 yards 5 TDs then it's a good deal.

It’s not questionable in the sense that they needed to make an excuse to jettison him, like giving up on your first rd pick after 2 seasons.

Ramsey is still a good player, hes just not at the elite level he once was but what he is now is still good, better than Minkah I would argue. Minkah play has dropped a well, further than Ramseys, he’s made almost no impact the last 2 years.

They got two players for one, I don’t know how this is looked at as anything but a win for the Steelers. Smith had almost 1,000 yards last year, the big personnel packages they will run will give teams fits.

Well, if you look at it from MIA's side it seems in the eyes of Dolphin fans that McDaniel isn't aging so well down there:

Ramsey was drafted almost a decade ago and he’s been a great corner, so it’s easy for many to forget that he was considered a better safety prospect than CB prospect by many when he was drafted. He played both positions exceptionally well in college. I’m not quite where you are on grading the trade an A if he’s a safety and a C if he’s a corner, but I do tend to agree that at his age he may be best as a safety going forward and could be an elite safety for a few years. I think for this season we will most likely see the multi-DB role.

Who knows how this will pan out. On paper a B+ could turn into an A.

Trading Minkah was a solid move and got a starter back both on offense and defense.

And was mentioned gave up no draft capital for 2026.

I'm okay with this trade, however I can't help to think that our defensive schemes had something to do with Minka's lack of turnovers the last couple of years
