Interesting fact. Bruce Smith who holds the all-time sack record at 200, recorded more than half of his sacks after Turing 30. Bruce had 108 sacks after 30.

Sacks after age 30 used to be a lot more prevalent than they are today.
It turns out the man who has the most sacks in NFL history after age 30 is the same as the guy who has the most at any age – Hall of Famer Bruce Smith.

What’s amazing is that Smith had more sacks after turning 30 than he did before that milestone.

Smith recorded 108 of his 200 sacks after turning 30.

Wow, didn’t know Bruce had 100 sacks past 30. I cant see TJ anywhere close to that.

But, if I set the O/U @ 33 for the number of sacks TJ has left, what side are you taking?

I'll take the over. TJ has at least 4 more years left and he needs only to average 9 a year to beat the 33 sacks you mentioned.

He was my favorite pass rusher growing up. I remember playing techno bowl with him.

Watt and Hendrickson are both in that same boat. They have both been the defensive focus and their team's most productive guys. But now both are 30+. I'm curious which gets signed first, and if the other one signs immediately after for $1 more. AFCN pissing contest.

I would be surprised if the Bengals will give Hendrickson 40 million APY, I think the Steelers will get a deal done with Watt.

I think maybe the Bengals are waiting for Watt to sign. Then they can negotiate for less than that.
Watt's team may be waiting for Hendrickson to sign so they can ask for more than he signed for.
    It will work out.

In the NFL these days, our heroes usually switch teams and sometimes to teams we don't even like.
I think it is not the norm to play an entire career on the same team.
RE TJ, man that guy is a beast. Sometimes I take a pair of binoculars and focus on his every play.
He's not the biggest guy, but his motor never stops.

I watched Bruce Smith end his career in Washington.
I hated it because those fans could not recognize they had a legend playing for them. They hated him.
His career was coming to an end, but 3/4's of a Bruce Smith was better than most DE's in the entire league.

I wouldn't want TJ's career to end like that. He is a great guy and great player.
Omar needs to get a deal done. I think TJ can do 4 more years pretty easy.
The only reservation I have is that I would like to see him get a Super Bowl Ring.

    hopefully here.

i like building the defense but would like to see more balance towards the offense as well. again it looks like we are going to become heavily one sided again for the next couple of years, especially if we sign TJ.
