If he meant Washington then wtf. None of the other tight ends can block worth a hill of beans so let’s trade the one that can block

The search isn’t important until DK misses time & we’re looking at CAIII or Roman Wilson as WR1. 2024 was Smith’s 8th year in the league & also the first season he broke the 50 catch mark. He’s only exceeded 40 catches in 3/8 seasons.

And, last year was also only the second time he’s had more than 3 TDs in a season. The last two seasons are the first two that he’s eclipsed 500 yards. At this point he’s had one good year, which happens to be last year. Not really the type of player to be standing in for a WR2, IMO.

Well yes if Metcalf gets hurt then we might as well just play all 3 TE's and run the ball 50 times a game.

I could see smith operating a 3 TE formation.
You have a truck in Washington
    You have a capable Pat.
You have a proven on in Smith coming from FB, Slot, or WR.....
It's a great mix. LB's hate that crap. CB's would hate to cover Washington and then have to tackle him.

Add in Warren who can rip off long runs...
or Johnson who looks like he could take it to the house from anywhere on the field.. (yet unproven)

I could easily see Smith using different variations of this.

It's hard to not like the players. Multiple TE sets coming.

Let's hope the ball can get moving ok the ground this year. I'm optimistic.

I'm optimistic too, the bad thing is that we are in the loaded AFC. The way the Steelers are constructed now they would be a top 3 team in the NFC.

Yeah, Jonnu sure isn't going to block. Washington will still be here, but he ain't getting much if anything thrown his way.

    ?!

Minkah was a three time first team All Pro. The past two seasons have not been kind to him for certain but to say he hasn't been anything special is simply not true. For that matter, there have been only seven Safeties to earn such a distinction three times. They are as follows:

    • Paul Krause
    • Joey Browner
    • Donnie Shell
    • Kenny Easley
    • Cliff Harris
    • Yale Lary
    • Minkah Fitzpatrick

That is it. That is the list. Of the seven, only Browner isn't in Canton. Minkah still has time to cement his legacy. The other five are.

Now, as for the trade itself?! I agree with you on the grade. It all depends on what they do with Ramsey. If he is to move to Safety full time to give Pittsburgh three Safeties to use, that would constitute an A- for me. If the plan is to use him in multiple roles, that grade is more tricky to assess. If it is mainly for corner, that would be a C-.

No, Connor Heyward. Decent ST player, but that is about it. I think his time is up.

    Nope.

For that matter and, I hope I am wrong, should T.J.s contract negotiations continue to stall, I wouldn't be shocked if he were traded. Again, I see that as highly unlikely but not impossible.

Jonnu can actually run routes unlike Washington.

Jonnu should get 40-50 catches this season since there is no real WR2.

    Yep.

I did say this earlier in the Offseason. I personally believe it would be a mistake to do so. However, if someone will pay up T.J. for the right price?! That changes the narrative all together.

Two 1 s... minimum. If not?! Not interested.

B- or C- definitely. I am erroring to the optimistic side. (agree that there are some moving cogs that could make this grade go up or down)

Minkah did make the pro bowl, for what that is worth these days.
    He also has 20 int's to Ramsey's 24.
I just received a money breakdown..... looking at it from that perspective, we got ripped. Minkah is 28, Ramsey is 30. Minkah's salary was much friendlier than Ramsey's.
Skillwise, Minkah hasn't struck me as a top safety though apparently the Pro Bowl ballots think different. I think he is above average.
As far a fitting in, Minkah has lived in an unimaginative Austin's defensive schema and done a decent job. Ramsey does not address his absence not is a replacement unless he transitions to Safety which is very capable of.
I don't dislike Minkah and he was a great addition those first years. But I think he's left some on the field and maybe it isn't all his fault for the reason I mention Austin.
But you said what I said, I just left it to interpretation "This season, and last season, Minkah has been nothing special."

But as I look at the number, this is starting to look like Omar's weak agenda.

I feel better about the offense now Jonnu isn't the WR2 that they needed, but he should be a weapon still on offense.

rodgers likes his TE's. tonyan had a heck of a season with him. mercedes lewis. finley. bennett. there have been a bunch of them. ours will start to get a lot more catches now. don't forget our RB's are very good receivers now. along with the WR's this could be an offense that is hard to defend. will be interesting to watch. feeling much better about this season now.

This is what I was thinking about. If,.......IF.. You can actually pass effectively from this type of set, it can be really hard on the Defense.

I don't believe it is. I think it's a weakness in our scheme.

He’s a solid weapon, I don’t disagree. But, he’s not enough to compensate for a WR2. He’s no 2nd option. At least, not if you have ANY aspirations of winning anything of significance. It would be complete malpractice to, voluntarily, go into back to back seasons without a legit WR2.

I like what OK has done in drafts. But, most of his other decisions/transactions leave A LOT to be desired. It will make life much harder on DK & the running game, too.

Hopefully, they’ll come to their senses & grab another WR after roster cuts. But, if not, I’ll personally be done with OK. I know I don’t matter, but, I’m far from the only fan wondering WTH they’re doing.

I am talking specifically about three times. Not more.

The overall is that Safeties that get three of those accomplishments usually are Canton bound.
