some guys get more concerned about one thing and are late to do another. instinct also plays a part. cam is very instinctual in his play. he is consistent at doing that where others are not. hopefully this new group is good at it.

 

Delays, draws and rpo that are disguised to look like passes often times where personnel dictates the defensive response. They spread the field with multiple receivers to empty out the box and the offensive line gives ground looking like pass protection. How many times did we see Ben on 3rd and foever, take the snap, pump fake and turn around to hand to a rb in the hopes of catching them off guard and gaining 20 yards? Never worked like it was supposed to but was a safe play and he got guys to jump with their hands in the air. Bottom line it is a football smarts thing as evidenced by Cam's total.

Edit: Also I didn't say they should throw their hands up on running plays, I sometimes forget the level of specificity required when discussing topics. I said Larry O seemed to concentrate more on his run stopping and his pass rushing so getting his hands up might not be a priority for him. I would hope at this level they would know when and when not to get their hands up to swat a pass.

Edit 2: Sorry Strummerfan I did not completely read your response and understand it before going off on a rant. Just had that last line jump out at me about hands up on a running play and I was off. I agree with a large portion of your response.

I don't 'know the CBs personally, but I do know some great CBs that suck at Jamming the Wrs at the line, and I know some terrible CBs that are good at only that. So....

I don't see any team trading for Ramsey; he's on the wrong side of 30 and his play has declined he also has a few more years left on his contract. I think Miami will release Ramsey then the Steelers should go after him.

 

is it ours can't? or are we coaching them to not do it because of being burnt with a big play? we could pick up these types that do it well but it has to mesh with what the rest of the DB's are doing as well. just like we used to draft zone cover DB's and expect them to play more man then zone. it doesn't work well. DLB used to complain about this.

That’s a big gap in the secondary fixed all going well.

It’ll be interesting to see how they manage his contract but leaving that aside this is great news on the field.
