The extended negotiations last year was a big signal to me that they were looking at the possibility of moving on from Pickens at some point. It didn't make a lot of sense after brining in Smith to trade for a WR1 wanting a huge extension if you were also planning on building around Pickens, who was also coming up for his own extension talks.

Do you ever get tired of being a complete douche on here? I realize you have no life and have to be the hall monitor of this place but you take it to new levels.
Go outside, do something else with your pathetic life instead of patrolling this board.
Your opinion is not the only one that matters when it comes to evaluating the Steelers. you just think it is.

Contrary to popular belief around this board. I still would've kept Pickens. We weren't gonna resign him anyway. Atleast we would've had him for cheap one more year. It's not like we got a boat load for him. Lineup ...
    Dk
    Pick
    CA3
    Roman
    Roc
    Woods
This would've been a strong group

That would have been the obvious thing to do, especially if you were loading up for a one year run with Rodgers. I think that crystallizes how much they just wanted him gone.

Could still be the same room just without the distraction.

But I think it had more to do with Pickens being late to a game and late for meetings and practices, hearing from the media it doesn't sound like he was well liked in the locker room.

This is exactly why he is gone. They didn’t want his childishness and negative energy in the locker room

On the field, keeping him was a no brainer

SI.com is reporting today that the Steelers have reached out to the Packers for a possible trade for Doubs. There is definitely a lot rumors on various sites that Doubs could be a Steeler to solidify the WR group.

I like him too. I think he puts out max effort every time he is on the field. What worries me though, is what has changed since last year and why will we be better in the passing game? We traded our #1 for a different #1. The rest of the receiving room is pretty much what we had last year. We traded Wilson/Fields for Rodgers. The coaching staff is the same. There has not been any ground shaking moves for the passing game IMO. So he can be happy about the status of the WR room all he wants, something has to improve or we have essentially what we had last year (NFL average was 25.3 TD, Steelers had 21 and were 22nd in the league).

Where are we at if our #1 or #2 get injured? We have no depth at WR. We have WRs, just nobody that can step into those top spots unless Wilson is a prodigy.

It was a text book addition by subtraction.
