If you didn't forget it, why didn't you include it in the post? They failed in so many ways with Pickett, so it makes sense they would want to put the blame elsewhere.

And what kind of return were you expecting from a first round bust like Pickett ?

I'm not sure they could have gotten more, but his entire time with the team makes the Steelers look bad. Do you think it is a good look to take a player in the first round, then give up on him after only two seasons? Do you think they put him in a good position to succeed? They stuck him with an offensive coordinator who was so bad that he was the first coordinator they fired in-season in decades. He had a head coach who refused to trust him to attack the middle of the field, which is where he did much of his damage in college. The line ranged between shaky and terrible. Everyone wanting to defend the team is insisting that both of his primary receivers were utter wastes of space who had to be shipped out of town.

None of that makes the team look good.

That you don't realize I'm not defending him says a lot. I'm saying let's stick to the truth rather than dubious leaks that came from the team, most likely in an effort to make themselves look better.

Fair enough, but Pickett was the one that asked to be traded he could've stayed and competed.

this team DOES NOT LOOK GOOD - glad you can see that. that STARTS with Rooney and Tomlin. and Colbert was a BIG PART of that mess!

Pickens was a 2nd rd, 52nd pick, BTW. He fell in PART b/c he was a FOOL, many teams knew it. BIG questions about his maturity and attitude lingered.

we see he is a CLOWN SHOW.

    Good riddance.

But you’re not sticking to the truth. You’re choosing to ignore it and infer the Steelers are being dubious. Despite several past examples that prove the Steelers were being truthful in similar situations.

You really think the Steelers got rid of a very talented player for being moderately distracting? Come on Scribe, you’re not dumb.

And the Steelers could have worked with him and talked him down, but the inmates are running the asylum and Tomlin doesn't seem to have the time or patience for such things any more. He didn't ask for the trade publicly.

I think the Steelers got rid of a player who took plays off and did other selfish things, but they also put out more dubious information on top of that to try to make their trade look better.

I never questioned what was put out there with Johnson. The Steelers didn't need to sell that one. The fan base was thoroughly fed up with him.

It don't matter in the case of Kenny since we all know he is terrible

I think the issue is he can't stay healthy. He played well when he briefly stepped in for the Eagles last season, the first time he got to play in a good situation in the NFL, but he very quickly got hurt again.

Tanner McKee was better that Kenny last year for the eagles.Pickett had been average vs commanders(the only time that the eagles had lost a game since October including the playoffs despite 5 turnovers by the eagles defense)good vs cowboys but very small sample...Mason Rudolph had been very good for us in the final 3 games in 2023 to greatly help the steelers to make the playoffs but I don't think he is a starting caliber QB in the league....so 2 games of Pickett (1 average and a good one in this case) will not convince me either

That is part of my point. The only time we have ever seen Pickett in a good NFL offense was very brief. I think people oversell what McKee did in those two games. He threw a couple of garbage-time touchdowns after Pickett left one game, then he had a solid effort against a terrible Giants team.

according to the eagles fans,McKee was better in practice during the training camp,a huge reason why the eagles have traded Pickett in the offseason for almost nothing

Now go back and read what I wrote more carefully. Pickett did ask for a trade, but not publicly. That he had requested the trade didn't come out until after the deal was done. There was no rush to get that deal done. He hadn't gone public.

Your interpretation of why he left is not a fact. It is an opinion, and a dubious one. My take on this, that he got pissed at how the Steelers had jerked him around, better fits the facts.

What the steelers had as offer for a backup QB at best was very good,so they had to accept that

The Steelers looked bad because Pickett was overdrafted. Just another parting gift from lazy Colbert. If drafted in the 3rd round he could have been a Rudolph type backup. But Pickett felt he was a starter and wanted to go elsewhere to prove it. He'll get his chance in CLE. But some people are suggesting he is already in danger of not making the final roster. And if he doesn't, that should tell you the Steelers were smart to move on quickly from the guy, three teams in three seasons. Are they all wrong about him?

The Eagles had less invested in him and his contract is up after this season, too. I think it is always wise to take fan opinions with a grain of salt.

It's not as if Pickett had never been treated as the starter in Pittsburgh. They entered the 2023 season thinking he was their guy. Remember all the hype about his dominant preseason? His thinking that they took the job from him without giving him an opportunity to compete is well-founded.

Funny thing is if he stuck around he would have gotten that chance last year.

He’s not going to win that job in Cleveland, you’re probably right in that he will be let go. He might find himself without a team this season.
