Twice in his career Rudolph was named the starting QB for the rest of the season. The first time he lost his job after a few weeks to Duck Hodges. Last year he played so poorly he was benched for Will Levis who the Titans didn't want to play for the rest of the year.

    Tell the truth.
He didn't lose His job 1st, He got taken off the field like a freaking zombie, with a head shot that would get You thrown out of a game today, and then He was brought back too quickly, and all in all some of the haters fail to mention that He even then took the job back, and nobody took him seriously because Ben was still our Qb.
I also noticed how you left out that he came in his last season with us, and made the offense look way better than Trubisky, or Pickett did.
Nobody is saying He's the next coming, but some people on here have hate for his play, and it's not deserved. People bring up Tennessee, yet fail to mention how bad other players they loved looked after leaving the Steelers.....Example: L Bell couldn't keep a job after leaving Pittsburgh. Also don't forget that Mason played for a 1st time HC, that may, or May not know what the Hell he's doing, on a team that had just fired their previous HC.

Like among the leader in YPA and QB rating in both of those years?

Not because his pass attempts and yards was low mean he was just a average QB or just a game manager

But you compared Ben to Marino in the early years, Marino was setting records as a passer.

Won’t they get to see Howard in practice and classroom everyday

    It’s not just game day

If he has it in practice he will probably get to see some game day

If he doesn’t have it in practice there is zero reason to put him in a game

He was named starting quarterback for game one of two seasons

Nobody is named starting quarterback for a season

Or are you buying into the “4 year window” theory :smiley1:

Yep. My exact point. The guy you would be tanking to pick may not even be in the draft, and there would be no way to know that far ahead of the draft.
A lot of it just comes down to luck. The Steelers were able to draft Terry Bradshaw because they won a coin toss with the Bears. And they drafted him a year after drafting Terry Hanratty.

Actually he left having played 3 good games and finished one “not so much”

Then he failed miserably the next season

Maybe I worded it wrong. When Ben got hurt Mason was named the starting QB. He held the job until a terrible first half against the Bengals when he was benched for Duck Hodges who was then started the last 6 games. Last season the Titans announced that they were benching Will Levis and that Rudolph would be the starter the rest of the season. However Rudolph played so poorly that the Titans had no choice but to bench him after a couple of games and insert Levis back in as the starter.

He lost his job to Duck Hodges after a pathetic first half against the Bengals and Hodges rallied the team to a win. He wasn't injured he just sucked so bad that the Steelers benched him for Hodges who won his first 3 starts after that. After the Hodges experiment started to wear off Rudolph was put into the Jets game and played well but got injured after a couple of series and missed the last game and a half. Those are facts.

Is this a troll post? Ben Roethlisberger was developed under Cowher and Whisenhunt. Arians continued it. Popcorn had zero to do with it.

Lets be real about Howard. What are the chances a late draftee can become the next franchise Qb? Slim to none. If he gets in due to injury or the starter really plays poorly put him in. But they shouldnt go out of their way to get him in there. As of now Mason should be the starter snd they should be looking to get a guy with a real chance at being the next franchise Qb in 26.

Other than your bias why should one head coach Cowher be involved but the next Tomlin allegedly not

Because Ben had already won a Super Bowl and appeared in 2 conference championship games before the reign of Popcorn.

I was responding to the guy pimping Rudolph. A truther means someone that still believes in a player.

This is just dumb you want to give a defensive coach like Cowher credit for Ben, Tomlin promoted Arians and hired Haley when Ben had his most productive years.

This isn't exactly right. Callahan wanted to give Levis one last start in Wk18 to see what he could do. He ultimately yanked Levis part way through the game and put Rudolph back in. Then Callahan yanked Rudolph and put Levis back in the 4th qtr. Regular S-show by a rookie HC.

Those a cliff note facts....notice You didn't dispute anything I said, You just repeated what you said. Did He or did he not get knocked unconscious in a game, and that's how Duck was 1st brought in... Yes , or No??? Did He , or didn't he win his job back....Yes, or No???
Did he , or didn't He come in after a 7-7 record that Trubisky, and Pickett had us at , and win 3 straight games, and the offense put up more points then they had all year, and get us into the playoffs.....Yes, or No???
Again, I don't think his great, but he's a hell of a lot better than some of You try selling.

he was a 3rd string QB his rookie year and got 3rd string QB reps as a rookie. he then beat out the 2nd string QB his 2nd year in camp and got 2nd team reps behind a franchise QB no less. then he was thrown into the starting spot with very little to no experience. i could care less what he did at tennesee. they were a disaster of a team at that point. nobody is confusing him with the 2nd coming of tom brady but he is also not going to be as bad as many make him out to be. let the situation play out. let howard learn for a year. let our QB coach have time to teach these guys. they have good heads on them and are coachable players. they are not george pickens type players. give our QB coach some stability to see what he can or can't do. the O-line is young. if they can protect in the pass game and play well in the run game, rudolph or howard won't have to be superman. everyone wants to play the prejudge game. dear lord they haven't even gotten to camp yet.

He was very good at the end of 2023 but it was only 3 games...Delvin Hodges also won his first 3 starts. My point I don't think Rudolph can be a good starter for a entire season
