HOW DO YOU GRADE PICKENS TRADE TO DALLAS

A, addition by subtraction.

 

I gave it a C, can't see how this helped the WR room other than removing an infant. When Pickens wanted to play, he was great, when he got an attitude he was a distraction and harmful to the team. Case in point half-assing routes and failing to execute blocking assignments. However, IF he played to his potential alongside Metcalf the passing game could have been dangerous. We'll never know. So my grade is an average, F for the potential on field loss to the team, A for the loss of a pain in the butt.

Why would you believe that he found it if he refuses to share? You have been a stickler about people proving such things in the past.

 

I hated this trade at the start because they received very little, but I understand this move more now, even though the Steelers' plan is very confusing.

There's no guarantee that the Steelers would have had a third-round compensation pick for Pickens in 2027, since if no team wanted to give a second-round draft pick and only the Cowboys wanted to give a third-round draft pick to the Steelers,so it's possible that Pickens wouldn't have had a $30 million contract in the free agent market.

It's better to guarantee a third-round pick in 2026 than not be sure of getting one in 2027.

Pickens is very talented, and the Steelers are worse without him, but he was a big head case even in his rookie season, and the Steelers don't have the team to compete for a championship in 2025, and Pickens wasn't in the plans for the future, so it was the right thing to do, even though the Steelers are worse on paper without him this year.

You already promised the last word a long time ago, but you kept going all day, so I will believe that when I see it. You haven’t earned much credibility in these discussions. This is an F because we didn’t draft a replacement so we are right back to where we started before the Metcalf trade. It is also an F because their was a good chance had he payed out the season and done well we would have more than likely gotten a 3rd round comp pick for him the following year. Finally this is another in a long line of players that we have traded away because of character issues. Either our FO is bad in drafting players that we can not build a team around foundationaly or Tomlin is failing to develop these guys and holding them accountable to “The Standard” whatever that is because we seem to not have one anymore.

I seem to think it is a mixture of both but more so the latter. Until Tomlin learns to properly deal with conflict and hold these players accountable for the sake of the rest of the players on the team and to save them from selves we will continue to have these same problems time and time again.

Good deal for the cowboys. Trade a 3rd. Get back a 3rd when he leaves.

good deal for the Steelers. He is going to self destruct and not be worth a darn soon, like AB and Bell.

The truth is probably somewhere in between.
