I don't like it as of right this moment, but I totally understand it. I also believe we got the exact same thing for AB from Raiders, if I remember correctly. He was a problem, but He had lots of talent. If another one of our Wrs steps up, or we bring in another good wr, I will totally forget about him.

Will Howard has the physical size of Ben Roethlisberger and has played very well during his college career. There is a good chance that he can prove a lot of the doubters wrong.

I agree! I like Howard a lot. Even with liking him, I think you draft one next year.

Think Joe Montana and Steve Young not Kordell Stewart and Tommy Maddox :D

I graded it a B, mainly due to the fact that the problems with Pickens were public, and with only a year left on his deal, getting a 3rd was about as optimistic a return as they were going to get.
Keeping him and getting a comp, well it works out about the same, except the comps are selected after the round is complete so I agree with the up-thread comment about coming out ahead in the drafting order.

It won't do any good this year, but I really doubt the Steelers were going to be a serious contender with or without Pickens.

Who? I thought they should have held out for a two or it wasn't worth moving him. What they got wasn't enough.

Dan McGwire was bigger than either of them. Remember him?

For sure the timing is not the best and initially I was kind of upset. The prospects of having two stellar WRs for the year kind of excited me to be honest. Now we have to worry about who will be QBing and if we in fact will get another top notch WR .. I have to give credit to this organization though. Very few instances where the front office got rid of a player that went on to greatness. AB turned into an absolute joke.

Pickens said he has no interest in signing an extension and wants to play the season out, what team is giving up a second round pick for that headcase? Maybe the team didn't want to go through another season of him crashing out and being late to meetings.

No, I asked you a question and stated my opinion. You still haven't answered it. Could it be that you made that up?

(It's possible someone did post that they thought he was worth a first-rounder, but I wouldn't put anything past you at this point.)

So you would rather him half ass an entire season, be late to meetings, give up on plays and be a complete cancer in the locker room? I’m starting think a 3rd was a good move and I hated the trade value at first.

This is where I am at with the trade. I think they could have gotten more, especially from Dallas, but otherwise am fine with collecting picks as assets. Not a fan of the lack of #2 WR plan.

D was the best I could come up with.
Not so much for the trade itself, that is more a result of the entire debacle.

What happened to the screening process?
How did he get past the scouting?
Who's idea was it to stand up and proclaim "Let's pick George Pickens with the 52nd pick!' who thought that was good idea?
After they picked him, what about coaching him? Who failed in that process?
Shouldn't a scout be fired? Traded?
There's a lot of F's to go around.

Answer the question. Who claimed that Pickens was worth a first-round pick? If you can't provide a name and a link, it is fair to assume you made that up.

I have mellowed on this, if this was part of a proper commited tank and rebuild, I'd be much happier about it, but I don't think it is, it's just part of headscratching one leg over each side of the fence off-season.

    C+

B+ If he tanks in Dallas and we end using the picks wisely.

Admit you made it up and I will be happy to move along. You claimed that "some idiot" thought Pickens was worth a first-round pick. It is absolutely fair for me to ask you who that was, but you refuse to provide an answer. I am quite confident in saying you made it up.
