They were saying on the Fan this morning don't be surprised if the Steelers sign 29 year old, broken down RB Nick Chubb. They were saying that Tomlin has always admired Chubb and always refers to him as Mr. Chubb because of his great respect for him.

Think any good QB will be available in free agency? I do not know what is going to happen with Russ and Fields.

Not unless you can track down the guy who kidnapped and replaced Sam Darnold the first 16 games of the year.

A list of the rest can be found here.

As long as it's in round 3 or later. No need to waste a top 2 pick on a use them then lose them position.

I would take Chubb in a second. He had a down year because he was coming off a catastrophic injury. It wont cost a ton to sign him, I would absolutely take a platoon of him and Warren.

Can still draft a RB since Chubb is 29.

I think Chubb would be an upgrade over Najee I'm for it.

Here's a link to all of the Steelers contracts. You can click the ending year so that it puts all the 2024 enders together. Anyone that's going to be franchised is going to come out of that list.....https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/pittsburgh-steelers/contracts

Looking through that list, I don't see anybody that I could see being franchised. There are several people on that list that they're going to want to retain, but franchising means they have to pay them a lot more money. I think they have to be paid an amount that puts them in the top five for their position.

Another view can be found here, where it shows all 2025 Steeler free agents, their previous contract's APY, and a link to Spotrac's estimated market value.

It depends on the type of tag used

    Good info.

Mike Williams, a lot of money for very little production. Don't know that it's his fault, but it was definitely not very cost-effective for us.

Keep in mind Spotrac is reporting the AAV of the contract he signed with the Jets, which was 1yr/$10M. The reported cap hit for the Steelers after trading for him was $3.3M.

With Free Agency, I don't know what to expect.
I am down with our Front Office after the WR fail and mediocre drafting.
But it is possible to recover and maybe things turn around.

Of course, whenever the Steelers are mentioned on any show, QB is the #1 need.
Sam Darnold, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are probably the top QB free agents.
Sam Darnold probably would require a change in the offense design and the contract he will probably get would dictate that change. I think he is out of the picture.
Russell Wilson remains the best option to me though I have to choke those words out of and then vomit. But they have to upgrade the receivers. Wilson would be less of an impact as far as offense design, and his number might not be so high.
Justin Fields is a guy I don't want to sign because I think if they do sign him, they are eyeing a solution to the Franchise QB and that, he is not.
So, no matter how much I wax poetically about QB's, they are going to do what they will do.

Free Agency should be exciting to watch. This is the first indication of what they perceive to be fixes.

i'm hoping they draft at least one of howard or dart and use fields or russell as nothing more than a bridge, russell may be more help to a young guy than fields would be. i still would not mind if they went for two of these qb's in this draft. get them here and they could find out if they need to go further down the road. i don't think these qb's would have to be round 1 pickups. get the process started.

I agree with that train of thought,
Wilson is nearing the end and if we are lucky enough to draft a good one (ex Brock Purdy - no one saw that coming) Wilson won't be much of a distraction nor a loss.
Maybe he even helps us get better draft position - Man, I hate the idea of a throw away season.

i'm not sure it would be a throw away season. possibly a building season. all of the ending was not russell's fault. the league did us dirty down the stretch. if russell had the first 6 games during the easier part of the schedule, i believe he would have been at least the 4-2 if not more. several positions being fixed could help what we fielded at the end of the year. i believe russell will be a better teacher for a young qb. then he can ride off into the sunset.
