He skipped voluntary workouts. Clearly it didn’t matter because he’s playing his ass off and showed up in shape etc

Offering fair criticism is being a leader. Perhaps he should've kept his criticism behind closed doors and perhaps he already tried that. I don't hold him skipping optional workouts against him. He's been the least of the Stillas issues this season.

It’s not like he’s actually named anyone.

I agree... think we need to be upset with the guy Cam, Elliott and others are talking about.

I feel like Heyward was being a leader. He didn't call anyone out individually and even took ownership of the poor play by the group. I don't know what not attending OTAs has to do with anything.

I mean he said "I own that" and basically called himself out, and nobody else by name, just that the D in general isn't executing and it's frustrating. And he's completely correct.

OTA's. What a weird thing to complain about.
Heyward has done his job quite well this year. He's playing his ass off. He's being a leader and speaking out in a professional way without throwing anyone under the bus.
These guys are expected to make themselves available to the media. That's part of the deal of being a pro player. What is he supposed to say, that everything is great?

There are many problems with the team, Cam Heyward is not one of them. He embodies what the Steelers should be.

He does lean in to the media stuff but nobody plays harder on Sunday

Glenn for what it is worth he skipped practices because he was still healing from the groin injury

The claims he was skipping practices to get a new contract was from the peanut gallery especially here

I don’t have a problem with what he said. It was an honest reflection without directly naming anyone.

I am sure it was all in response to a reporters question, so I am not sure what else he would say there?

That is exactly what he does and what he is doing. The only person he called out individually is himself. To criticize him for it citing unsubstantiated speculation about why he missed offseason workouts was utter nonsense.

He’s a leader on the team. Why should he shut up? He called himself out. That leading by example. If he stays quiet, that’s not a leader. Can’t have it both ways.

I’m not on base with you at all here

    He is leading by example

And I already addressed off season and injury

No one on this defense should be immune from criticism including the scheme and coaches.

Maybe the defense Would have better communication if he would’ve showed up and worked with the other guys. He is a team captain after all.

    Actually he did show up

He just didn’t do anything to hurt his groin

Plus he talked to players on the phone when he couldn’t do do in person

Isn’t communication issues usually boiled down to one of three areas?

It seems like communication issues would be the fault of the middle linebacker (green dot), one of the safeties (alignment of secondary), or the individual player.

I believe they are referring to Sutton based on all the reports I read. Maybe its time Beanie was put back on the field in place of Sutton
