Look man. I typically rid myself of overly negative people. Life is too short and there’s some really awesome stuff in life to have to listen To the same people bellyache all day. This is really the only place where I subject myself to it.
I’ve never been a big messageboard person. I honestly thought when I came to a Steelers fans message board that it would be a place where people were a little more about the team. Boy was I wrong.
The majority of people here are rational, objective and a pleasure to discuss the Steelers with. Then there’s about 10 or 15 people that in my opinion, just make it unpleasant for everyone else is what it is I guess.

First off I need to see this definition of a fan. I’ve honestly never heard that before.
And it’s pretty simple you can ***** and bellyache about the Steelers all day long and it won’t change a damn thing. But if I can get through to another Steelers fan that they’re acting like a complete jackass then maybe this world could be a better place.

You appear to be the exact opposite of what you claim to be in my opinion. From the limited time I've read or posted on this board I find your posts all over the place chastising and belittling anyone or any take that may be critical or differ from your own.
Not "ridding yourself of overly negative people". More like seeking to create a situation that entices a reaction that might amuse you.
Kind of like exactly what this thread you created is purposed for and how you are responding to individuals. You come to this message board to attack opposing views and seek out negativity. It looks like you enjoy it.

some people are just comfortable being complacent in life

the rest of us want to achieve.

    that is the difference.

some like the sport and game, others want to be champions.

seems to me that Mike is Ok just being good. I don't see him making the drastic changes to do things differently. he does not change. maybe he can't - and that is what I think. We have seen it all with him, at this point. and so has the rest of the NFL

and why not? he keeps making his MILLIONS of dollars!!

What actually are YOU achieving in a Steeler victory?
I get the feeling you believe YOU achieve more when they loose.

See this is what I’m talking about. If you knew me you’d know I’m one of the most committed, competitive people. I’m always pushing myself to be better with my work etc.
How in the heck can you apply any of that to something you have zero control of? Why do I want to sit around and complain about something that I can’t change? Now if I had a line of communication to the Steelers where my complaints could be heard, well then…
Some fans have tricked their selves into thinking they have some sort of impact on the team.

Being a fan of a competitive sport is still a competitive thing in a way. You have zero control of the outcome, but attaching your fandom to an organization can be very personal. Some people can be casual fans and some are true fanatics. Its a totally human response, and not something that should cause a problem for others as long as it is done in a non-destructive way.

I'm competitive too. I cheer for the team, am excited when they win, and critical and upset when they lose... but I can drive home from my dad's after a game and exist like a non-raging lunatic afterwards. As long as the coping mechanism isn't to take it out on yourself or others destructively, then I don't see what the problem is. People cope with disappointment differently and its not necessarily right to question it simply because it isn't how you cope with it. Though I will say, your way of coping with it is MUCH healthier from a mental perspective than some other ways lol but some people just can't get themselves there. It just isn't how they were born.

I think this message board is great and full of mostly awesome people. I've only every muted/blocked one individual ever. I'm fine with different personalities, opinions, world views etc. as long as you treat others around you with respect then we're good. We've had some crazy posters, angry posters, etc., but realistically only 1 individual I've encountered on here since 2013 has fit the criteria of "I want absolutely nothing to do with you". That particular poster just relentlessly disrespects everyone they interact with and generally won't leave an argument without insulting or belittling the other individual involved (often times going out of their way to do so). I'm not so sure that there are 10-15 people that make it miserable. I've only ever encountered one truly miserable/bad human being on here.
