Why is it that the fans that predict losses and doom and gloom seem to be the most upset fans when their predictions come true?

Because we are Steelers fans. It’s not about being right it’s about being in tune with reality and frustrated.

I didn't predict gloom and doom.

I did see it coming while they were playing, though.

In short: they (or "We" if it's during the game) don't want to be right.

    The Sun is hot. LoL.
I have always wondered this myself. It just seems people like myself, and others that have picked us to be good should be the most upset, and the ones that said we would suck ....well....they should be the least upset. I'm sure that is a flawed way to see it, but that's how I've always looked at it.
Like for example....I believed we would win 10 games, and one playoff game....so anything else is just icing on the cake. Now if we don't do this. I will be seriously upset. LoL

I want them to win. I sometimes don’t expect them to win. But I’m still disappointed when they lose.

In the Predict the Score thread I picked the Browns only to guarantee some Top 10 points.

The loss actually happened and I’m still sick about it.

Next week will be more difficult as more people will probably choose Bengals.

Kind of an obvious answer: because people are different from each other and everyone reacts differently when their favorite teams loses to a loser team.

we live in a world full of different people, and we are on an Internet forum intended to bring different people together.

most humans figured this out about 5000 thousands years ago. :)

So why is it that the fans that say they are “in tune with reality “ or “realist”
Actually the most unrealistic with their expectations?

Yeah, I know what the definition is. I always thought a good fan supports the team and not someone that constantly talks trash on their own favorite team

IDK about constantly trash talking their own team. But being hypercritical? See my quote. ;)

being critical is not talking trash.

it is a sport, a game.

some here take it WAY too personal, almost like we are criticizing them or a family member.

I would pick the Bengals even if the Steelers had won. I don't think the Steelers match up well with the Bengals offense.

I will add that the last couple games have jolted me back to the reality that the offense is not great and the margins for victory are thinner than ever. I had this false fantasy for a minute that they actually had a competent offense. The play calling yesterday and in the Ravens game was disheartening to say the least.

Until Tomlin / Smith can stop playing not to lose and mix it up a bit, the Steelers playoff success ambitions are doomed.

The frustration of being right. Every year Tomlin teams lay an egg against trash football teams. This year its the Browns and the Cowboys, last year it was the Pats and Cards, the year before the Raiders and Lions, etc.

We know its coming, but hope beyond all hope that this year is different, MAYBE Tomlin will fix it. Aaaaaand nope. Again. Sh*t. So infuriating. Why? Ugh....

I'm happy for you that it is much easier for you to rationalize these losses than others. But not everyone can look at a 2-8 that lost their starting QB, their starting RB is still rehabbing a knee injury, they have 0 functional OT's and traded their secondary pass rusher and #1 receiver because they are a terrible team, and come to the conclusion that "man, that team isn't that bad. They're much better than their record. Don't worry guys!". Sometimes you have to realize that others think differently than you, and that is ok. It doesn't make them wrong (or you for that matter). They/we just live in a different reality than the one you've crafted, and it creates this "disconnect" in "reality". The versions of "reality" don't match up and each "reality" has some level of being correct.

Because they're fans and actually want the Steelers to win. It pisses them off that they can see the issues that have become a part of the culture of a team and franchise that once accepted nothing less than championship level football. It's this culture that has allowed an environment to be created that excuses mediocrity and has allowed the standard of measure to be just .500 or better.
It's not good enough. It's the same idiotic situational lack of awareness. It's the same bullsh@t, different year.

Criticism is fine. But this over the top, over exaggerating nonstop redundant complaining about everything is silly and dumb.

I have a few serious questions:

    - why do some fans (e.g. SteelerGlen) take out their frustrations after a loss by complaining about other fans?

    - How does it make sense for a fan to complain about other fans over and over and over again?

    - Isn't part of the definition of a fan to support other fans who are also hurt after a loss? What kind of fan enjoys bashing other fans and then saying "see I told you you would complain!"?
