Our offensive line is not very good.
Look at the difference in time that Jameis Winston had to Thro versus Russell Wilson.

And it wasn’t just this game. Our offensive line has struggled In past protection, most of the season.

We haven’t really had a good offense since Tomlin arrived. Ben would bail us out a lot when he took over at the end of games

I would also say the conservative we do what we do mentality as well but you are right…..The O Line is not good. Which is why I was saying in another thread be ready to take another OL rd 1 next season.

I doubt it. At some point, you have to show some patience. Not every player is ready to be their best self as a rookie. McCormick has had some good moments, but he wasn't even supposed to play much this season. I think they like what they have in Fautanu if they can get him on the field and they aren't ready to give up on Jones.

had a GREAT LINE for 5 - 6 years when BEN was in his prime, with the Killer B team. (it was top 10 for many years)

we choked for years, in those years......

They have to feel uneasy about Jones and how can they fully trust TF Will get a clean bill of health and not re injure it. Dislocated knee cap just sounds awful.

this is true. which is what cast doubt for me on the entire season.

losing Fautanu was big, he was drafted #1 to START and PLAY.

I think Jones is HURT and regressed some, maybe not being coached well, not sure. Dan Moore at LT, he is playing better - but nothing long term

Agreed...but also think that their predictability on offense does the OL no favors. Not sure what the numbers were, but felt like they ran on 1st down EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Let's predict the first play vs. the BenGirls:

Najee, I-formation, handoff up the middle!

    It's a JOKE

altho last night, Heyward SUCKED it, missed his block. He get the SUCK award last night, did not see him the 2nd half.

    Problems in order are:

    1. OL
    2. Philosophy to keep game as close as possible and win with splash plays in 4th Q
    3. Stupid ass play calling on 4th downs
    4. WR depth
5.. If the D forces Harris to juke, he’s useless but they keep feeding him

D line got abused by Browns 3rd string O line. Both trenches need upgrades.

We have no one to count on outside of Pickens. If we had someone who could consistently win outside then we would have an opportunity to start negating the rush by beating them through the air. It would also help if we got more out of our starting RB. Its not a surprise that our best offensive games are the ones where our RB actually made the defense pay. Naj's been pretty awful outside of those 3 specific games and its a big reason why our offense is so hit or miss. Upgrading WR2 and RB1 going into next season is going to do WONDERS for the offense.

Couldn’t agree more. They stunk last night and seem to be getting worse each week instead of better. I don’t know what’s going on. Frazier is a stud. He and McCormick should be good for years to come. Can’t figure out why Jones has regressed so much.

I know I’m a broken record, but whatever our Oline coach is teaching them ain’t working. High pedigree draft picks AND free agents come here and get worse. I’ve seen more missed assignments and free rushers the last three years than ever before.

Hopefully this slap in the face lights some fires. The better team did not win, the better prepared team did.

Our offense had no real game plan. If they did, we would not have heard the number 95 at all.
Where he goes, the chip blocker has to be aware... all of them do.
This was not a good game by Aurthur Smith, hope he knows it.

Given how the likes of Heyward, Ogunjobi and Lowry are not spring chickens, perhaps a good idea. Offensive Line has talent but needs time. Defensive Line is in dire need of an upgrade.

First round pick in '25 needs to be DE or DT.

D- Line seemed to be playing like they were tired. I suspect they are too old to recover as fast as younger players would. Even TJ did not have a good game which could be attributed to his inability to recover on a short week. Herbig disappeared all together. Not sure what caused that.

Meyer is not a good OL coach. Okafor implied as much in this interview - During the Patriots OTAs, Okorafor said not all of his coaches throughout his career were about teaching technique like coaches are in New England. "He’s solid. He’s big about technique. I’ve had some coaches in the past whether it’s college or NFL, it’s just run and hit kind of deal. But he’s technique, hands, feet, everything. So far, it’s been good," Okorafor told the Boston Herald. Former Pittsburgh Steelers OL Takes Jab at Coaching Staff

I never thought Tomlin was a technique guy and that probably extends to his staff. Noll was a huge technique guy. Love this quote from him - "Champions are champions not because they do anything extraordinary but because they do the ordinary things better than anyone else."

It is pretty disturbing I finally get to watch a full game and they lose .

Their offense was far too conservative. I get the weather but they should have thrown in some misdirection and throws down the field

If someone told me that we won the turnover battle 3-1 and still lost to the Browns, I wouldn't have believed it.
