How many sacks will TJ finish with this season?

I'm thinking TJ will finish this year with 18 sacks. He had been quite for a couple of games before the Giants game, but he can go off anytime. I can see TJ having a 3 or even 4 sacks game at some point this season, but there will be games when he has none. His games where he doesn't have a sack, he's still a factor with his pressures and tackles against the run.

I don't think Watt will get to 18, teams are going to keep chipping him and have their QB get rid of the ball quickly. I think he gets 13-15 sacks.

With teams being allowed to HOLD him the way they do and all the chipping going on, I doubt he makes it to 18, but you never know.

I say he ends up with 16 sacks.

I really don't care as long as he stays healthy, disrupts the opposition and makes the occasional pivotal splash play (like against the Giants). The D has other players who can/will stack the sack stats - it doesn't have to be TJ.

This is my problem with Highsmith, and don't get me wrong he's a good player, and we miss him when he's out, but as much attention as Watt gets, and as much one on one as Highsmith gets....He should be way ahead of Watt in sacks, and disruption. Again I'm not saying He's no good, I'm just saying He should be better.

I would be willing to bet that he could care less. He got to 100, lead the league several times. I think his entire focus is getting to the postseason, stats be dammed. He would probably be just as happy to see Nick or Alex get just as many as he does even if it makes his numbers lower. I thought it was really smart when he switched sides a couple times to stop the predictability.

93.7 The Fan was saying that Garrett might be on the trading block. They are in such a financial bind and are a team going nowhere that they could unload Garrett and his salary getting a boat load of high draft picks in the process.

If he leads the league in sacks this year he probably wins DPOY, I think he does care about his stats.

Highsmith did miss 3-4 games this season, and he had more of an impact in the Jets game than Watt did.

He should. He gets twice as many one on one matchups every single game.

Maybe Watt and Highsmith should switch sides more often since it worked in the Giants game.

He found out last year that numbers don’t matter. He’s at the twilight of his career and needs post season opportunities

Not necessarily... TJ Watt is a better player than Highsmith, gets paid twice as much as Highsmith, so he should be expected to outperform Highsmith regardless of match up. Highsmith also has to face the oppositions best pass blocking tackle (LT) because TJ primarily lines up against the RT. Alex has 3 sacks in 5 games (10 sack season pace), so I think he is performing right on par with expectations.

I'm sure TJ would rather finish with 12 sacks and actually win a playoff game, than get 20 just to get knocked out in the 1st round. Still, I'm sure TJ would like to lead the league in sacks, win the DPOY, and win a SB too. That would be the best case scenario.

TJ isn't good enough to go against the LT most plays every game. This has been discussed gobs on this board.

Curious why you disagree with S.T.D on that statement. It makes sense if you have two great players and player 1 is having two guys trying to block him while player 2 only has one you'd think he'd have more opportunity.

Why? Just curious. Are NFL LT better then RT?? I missed the discussion or didn't pay attention.
