i think it depends on what he is wanting. i heard somewhere that he might want alot more money because he started left tackle all year and has one more pay day in him

He's also too slow moving to fit into our new zone blocking scheme.

Max refuses to be a back up, and Steelers want to give every opportunity to the young guys.....He also probably wants starter money.

If the young guys don't make strides they might bring him back again as long as he is available.

I'm kinda torn on this one.....The Steelers have thrown this guy on the scrap heap.....Called him back mid season and he's stepped up for us and been a solid player when we need him....Than we just throw him to the scrap heap again...He seems like a good guy did he piss in somebody's Wheaties?

This is what was said earlier in their offseason. The Steelers would like to get the 2 young guys out there and such...and Max doesnt want to be a backup yet he feels he has a few more starting years left in him. He never said anything about wanting big money/etc...just he wanted the chance to start. Now some have said if they switch to a new blocking system he does not fit that (even though I read they might use man blocking some too)...but this here was a recently development after the other stuff had already been out there. I'd still welcome him back if he doesnt get that chance elsewhere and is willing to be a backup/etc.

The Steelers are going to go with the young guys on the o-line there won't be much experience with the backups.

And every time we throw him on the scrap heap, nobody else picks him up. Yes he's been a good guy, but the reality is that he's really not that good. If you watch all of the league's left tackles on a play by play basis, you will see Starks getting more TE and RB help that just about anyone else. Don't get me wrong, he's been better than the alternatives on our roster, but that's not exactly a ringing endorsement.

I equally torn here... I agree with both of you. We toss starkks away and bring him back more than the yankees did with billie martin, and he continues to answer the bell when called upon.... on the flip side, it's also true that no other team appears to have even a passing interest when he is available, and there're plenty of poor lines out there (including the cardinals, which is daying something)

Our new OL coach won't have any interest in him because he's so big and slow. I'd be surprised if someone doesn't pick him up though... In fact, the Cardinals make a ton of sense with BA there, and them hurting on the OL.
