Time for a necropost. Seems like the scales are balanced now for wasting the Steeler's time. Torn ACL and MCL. Don't wish injury and misfortune on anyone, but glad this one got away.

With Ayuk out for the year and others such as Evans and Metcalf battling what could be nagging injuries we have more competition for the few available WRs at the trade deadline

Pretty sure Tampa lost their two top receivers last night as well.

they did, the WR pool is getting thinner and the ones available will be in higher demand. I feel our roster is set, we will see.

Just because he got injured with the 49ers, doesn't mean he would've suffered the same injury with the Steelers .

The injury makes his holdout look wise. Instead of playing on an expiring deal and having to work his way back from a major injury for a chance at a 'show-me' contract, he's got $40 million guaranteed. I wonder if his example is going to cause more players to do the same.

I'm not sure how you got that conclusion from my post. I never considered had the trade worked out that he would have suffered the same fate. I'm saying karma's a ***** and it took its toll on the Niners and BA so take it as you like...I guess.

Because a player holds out to get paid is now karma if they get injured ?

Depends on your personal view of the world. You are well known for claiming NFL players, coaches, staff, GM's, owners, talking heads, and so on all agree with you when the reality is they don't know you from the billions of other fans and don't agree with you about anything. Reality is that you form your opinions based on theirs and claim ownership of it. So I would not presume to guess if you believe things happen for a reason, sometimes good stuff happens to bad ppl or bad things happen to good ppl. Just saying things happen and glad it isn't a Steeler problem.

I don't think it's karma, but it does seem like if you miss all of training camp you are more suseptible to injuries.

But you also have millions in guaranteed money if you get your new deal. As opposed to having no new money and having to earn a new contract coming off a major injury.

The holdout may have made him more susectible to injury. But if he hadn't held out and still suffered that injury he'd be completely screwed.

It sounded like he was going to get a guaranteed contract from the 49ers regardless of him holding out. He held out to try to pry more money from the 49ers. When they finally called his bluff and agreed to trade him to the Steelers, he walked back in and agreed on essentially the same contract they had offered him earlier in the off-season. I could be wrong, but I don't remember hearing he gained much from that long, drama filled contract.. other than missing all of training camp and starting the season slowly.

I'm sure he was rusty missing all of camp, it doesn't mean he wouldn't have been good with the Steelers.
