I dont think this was running up the score at all. If we take a knee, the Jets still would have had the ball back, Albeit with less time but they still would have had the ball. I think Najee wanted a 100 yd game and ran hard, scoring isnt an issue and anytime we can stick it in Aaron Rogers face, I'm all for it!! He is an arrogant POS and I love watching him lose!!!!

He ended up with 102 yards. The numbers make no difference, but the momentum does. This game could send us flying into the second half of the season. We CANNOT look past the Giants! We have fallen into that trap before. Herbig and Patterson will be back after the break.

If kneeling down would have run the clock out then yes
If the clock would have stopped and the Jets would have gotten the ball back with any time then the correct call was to try to run for first down

Your are making it too simple
Depends on time left score and timeouts

Why is everyone so black and white.
It doesn't have to be one or the either.
If taking a knee will result in the game being over, then yes, the coach should take a knee so nobody gets injured on a pointless play.
If taking a knee won't result in the game being over, then run a play. Don't half ass it. If you're going to run a play, then give 100%.

    Both things can be true.

No its not running it up, all we did was run a running play up the middle, if they tackle us, the game is over, they failed to tackle Najee, the end zone was right there. I am so sick of these
"smart" plays where the ball carrier falls at the one....freaking score and dont look back.

The clock would have stopped and bad guys get another chance

But the Jets would get to run 1-3 more *needless* plays that could get someone injured.

I was shocked when they went for it on 4th and 1 with around 3 minutes to play, and did not take the FG to go up by 3 scores.

I think the Steelers were still able to get a 1st down and then run the clock out if Najee hadn't scored. This play was 4th and 2

Well I would not have been one of those people.
As I said, if the game isn't over and won't be over by taking a knee, then run a play. If you're going to run a play, don't half ass it, run it at full speed.
The last thing you need is for the OL to half ass it and the defence to kill the QB as a result.

I don't think a FG is any less risky to players health than any other play. There's been so many guys hurt on FG tries over the years.
I don't know if it's ever been compiled or not, but it would be interesting to see how many injuries during field goal tries vs other plays, then comparing the average of each play per game (5 FG tries vs 87 other plays, for example).

Ain't that the truth. We've won by 20 or more like all of 4 or 5 times the past 5 or 6 years, if that. Sad.

It makes more sense knowing Tomlin used to tell Haley how many points he needed to win. That is stupid. I'd tell my OC "as many as we can get, every week". It's Tomlin, I've come to expect stupid...and often.

I think Tomlin wanted those points, think he was trying to make a statement since he took so much heat last week.

Yards make a difference for his contract negotiations. 100 yard games help.
