Jayden Daniels is doing quite well, hope he doesn't get hurt. I hope he doesn't play well against Steelers. LOL

Amazing isn't it how a good Qb make a team like Washington suddenly competitive. Now someone will come in with how all the changes Washington made makes a difference....without them telling you how bad they said Washington was before. Just like they did Houston, but lo, and behold the Texans got a good Qb....they instantly got better, Cincinnati got a good Qb....they instantly got better, the Washington whatever got a decent Qb, and they instantly got better.

He is also a veteran who has played in mulitple systems in addition to starting out pretty well in the NFL back when he was drafted.. Bryce Young has none of that.

So then.....how about not trading up for a guy, and picking him number one overall.....a Guy that can't beat out a average 2nd round Qb. How about that.
I'm sorry to say......Bryce Young will never play on a team with as much comparative talent in the NFL as He had in Alabama in college.

So do we now have a better QB than we had?? We did win 3 three games in a row but that is no guarantee of the future. So many mistakes lately on choosing QBs. Maybe the college game is completely diffferent. Plays are different offensive schemes are different, talent level, etc. But there seems to be quite a few misses on high draft pick QBs. It has to be the difference in the offenses

    Problem is .....JMO.....
That many of these 1st round Qbs come from super largely talented teams that play teams that aren't as talented in college.
Example: The Difference in depth in talent between a Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, and a Georgia teams just to name a few....vs a Colorado state, Illinois, Rutgers, and so on is incredibly different. They maybe....maybe kinda close on the starting 22, but beyond that it's not close......some of these 1st round Qbs will never.....1. Be on teams with that much talent in the NFL compared to other team, and 2. Never face teams with the talent so different in the NFL. This is why it's hard to pick a good Qb out...lots of Qbs throughout college would look good at Alabama, Ohio State, and so on....
While on the other hand....The talent through the NFL is so close from one team to the other its barely visible.
Now I know some will say we'll what about a team like KC with Patrick Mahomes, or something equal.....well the Qb is better, but if You go teammates to teammates across the board.....you will find many teams with better talent. Thats why the Qb being actually good is such a big thing.
That's why I laugh at people saying it all on Carolina why Bryce Young is no good. If Andy Dalton can make Carolina look better......just imagine how they would look with a Patrick Mahomes, Burrow,or a CJ Stroud.

I agree with AQL. Some of these kids get drafted by teams that have unstable or just clueless ownership and it filters down through the organization. I also agree that some of these guys are just bad draft picks mostly because many of them like Leaf, Russell, Marinovich and Schlichter have major character flaws. That's why Marino fell like he did, because there were rumors circulating that he liked to powder his nose. Some guys just aren't going to make it no matter what. Might prove to be the case with Lawrence as it was with Jay Cutler. They have every physical trait you want. Big, strong, mobile, big arms and smart. Everything except maybe the will to win. So, I think sometimes teams just do a poor job scouting a guy. Sometimes players have hidden flaws and sometimes organizations just screw up players' development.

    This.

This just isnt limited to QBs though. Any Organization that has shown ineptitude wont develop even some of the best players from that draft class. Minkah Fitzpatrick is an excellent example. Brian Flores thought of Minkah as nothing more than a multi role box safety. Mike Tomlin didnt see Minkah that way; the price he gave being well worth it in the end.

Organization, structure and stability matters. This isnt Rocket Science.

Yes, I should have included the caveat that "bust" can apply to any position for the same reasons. There are teams that draft high every year and they never seem to get any better. So, you ask yourself, why is that? It can't all be bad luck. Mostly it's poor organizational structure. And that generally starts with bad owners.

See this is why I don't believe it's just the team......name Me one team in the NFL who hasn't had a bust draft pick.....so if it was just the owners , and organizations....teams like 49ers, Steelers, Patriots, Dallas and the Giants...true blue life bloods of the NFL.....yet every single one of those teams have had very terrible draft picks. Hell I could give a handful for each of those teams in just the last 10 years.....Sometimes it's just the dang player. Yet some on here only attribute it to owners, and coaches. Yet we will see a different player step in , and do well.....if it was just the owner, and coaches.....everyone would fail....., and that's not what is happening.

I agree 100%. It could and has happened to the league's elite franchises. My point is that it seems to happen to bad franchises more often. Or they draft a good player that lives up to the hype and they fail to surround him with talent.

I completely disagree how the Manning's handled the situation the year Eli was drafted with Ben and Rivers. But I understood why he didn't want to play for San Diego. Elway manipulated his way out of being drafted by the then Baltimore Colts. He was going to go play baseball for the Yankees. When Ernie Accorsi, the Colts GM picked him anyway, Elway said he would not play for the Colts, he would play for the Yankees. Then he was traded to the Broncos. I didn't much care for how they handled it, but the Colts at that time stunk, and they would continue to stink for many years afterward. No, not every player can do things like that, but there are probably many that wish they could.
