I saw on some blog that he could be released his cap number is $10 million for 2013 no way are the Steelers are paying him that much, releasing him would save $5 million. Also players who won't be brought back Colon, Foote, Mendenhall, Hampton, Wallace the team needs the money to try and re-sign Keenan Lewis.

Yeah this has been the rumor since the season ended. And just like as has been said and seemingly discussed to death...we'll know soon enough.

I think we're likely to keep Colon for 1 more year unless he's the final piece to getting a deal done to keep Lewis or fit our rookies under the cap, or something else where we just have to find a few bucks in the cushions of the couch to get something done. My reason is that cutting him saves only 1.2 Million, and his replacement would be at least a 500k or so cap hit. If you look at Colon as having an incremental cost of maybe 600-700k over a low-drafted/UDFA rookie replacement, or a guy like Malecki, I think you keep him for one more year. Even if he doesn't start, he gives you quality 3 position backup ability. Let's face it, many of us aren't fans of his, but he was a pretty darn good straight ahead run blocker this season - maybe our best at locking horns with a guy lined up right across from him. I think that, because of our ill-advised restructure of his contract, his judgement day is next offseason, not this one. Of course, if many of the folks here get their wish and we draft a guy like Warmack, that would change things quite a bit. However, I think that people who are expecting an interior O-lineman in the 1st 3 rounds will be disappointed.

Also, on the main topic - yes, I see Harrison as a cap casualty this year. I'm not sure how we can balance the books with a re-sign of Lewis without cutting someone expensive, and Harrison looks to be the most likely candidate.

I think the only way Harrison returns is if he takes a big cut in pay similar to what Hampton did in 2012.

On the upside, Worilds surprised a fair few people with his play last season. I'm not saying he gives the green light to lose Harrison - I this JH still has plenty to give this team - but at least we already have his replacement there.

For what, a 10th round draft pick? No team is going to give up anything of value for a mid-30s player who has had injury issues the last couple of years.

I understand that completely . I hope James comes to his senses and re-signs with the Steelers at a reasonable sum and finishes his career in the Black and Gold.

Who do I look like, Omar Khan???;)

Oh I don't know, Knox, but considerably less than he's due to make now. His production dropped off pretty significantly in 2012 and he is getting old in NFL terms. I think he can still be productive for another year or two but not at the same level he has been in the past. I would hope the Steelers would try to come up with a fair compromise for the guy who made arguably the most memorable play in Super Bowl history.
