So I just watched the last play of the Thursday night Ravens loss where Likely was out of bounds by a toe nail and it brought back memories of how great the Santonio Holmes SB winning catch was. Now there is no way to compare the game levels but imagine if Holmes is off by even a half inch the impact that it would have had. Most of us would want to erase that part of our football history including possibly the best defensive SB moment where Harrison ran a 100 yard TD interception back for the biggest game changing TD right before halftime. They say football is a game of inches but apparently it’s even smaller than that.

All sports, a 1/2 inch either way has changed many an outcome. And then I spend the rest of the time saying, if only, if only.

I thought of that play as well, the camera work was really amazing. It was not 'antient' times, and Cards fans still react negatively to that moment as some Ravens fans I have read on different sites. "Should have had a laser type camera level with the field", blah blah. When the 100 meter dash at the olympics has both runners with the same time, down to thousands of a second, but the camera shows a variance of perhaps tenth of an inch for victory I think of the poor slobs who bet on the event. If the TD was good, and they fail in the 2 pts conversion, they would have covered, if you bet the points you lost by a toe nail, lol.

With the talk of putting a tracker in footballs and doing away with chains, it makes sense, but you still have the human element. How many times have we seen the tip of the ball either be just short or long, and that one play impacting the game. In the end you still have a ref spotting the ball, and while the tracker may get it closer, it still comes down to human eyes for that 1/2 inch or less, lol.
