Only 1 jet sweep play for the steelers in this camp right now and it was the one that Roman Wilson had his injury

 

that's pretty stupid if he announced that. first you don't let defenses know that. second, we have been pretty successful doing it.

the last two years pickens has rushed 6 times for 121 yards and 1 TD.

austin has 11 rushes for 57 yards and 1 TD. that is 168 yards and 2 TD's on 17 attempts. that is almost 10 yards per carry. also a TD every 8.5 times we do it.

 

I am pretty sure Arthur Smith wants his WR blocking on running plays. Something DJ and Pickens would completely forget about on some plays.

 

This way the defenses will never expect a jet sweep.

However, younger Offensive Lines can take more time to develop; doubly so with a bevy of new pieces added to the unit. Granted, these new pieces the team has possess experience the likes of which few Offensive Lineman do when they come out of college but also can still be very much a waiting game given the fact that those three in Fautanu, Frazier and McCormick only know so much of their strengths and weaknesses from a practice standpoint.



Between me and you, tomorrow will be telling as DeMeco Ryan's is going to play his starters. Fautanu will be tested right off the bat. In addition, Houston isn't lacking depth on the front seven either.. so both Frazier and McCormick will also see plenty of action.
