I didn't think about how Pickens is better than London. And we all know Pickens is better. So in arthur offense we don't need another top WR.

If they can just sustain drives instead of constant 3 and outs it will go a long way towards a much better winning formula. The Matt Canada seasons were horrid. I really wish Todd Haley and Ben would have put aside their differences and been more dynamic. He was probably better for Ben than he was given credit for.

I think the Steelers offense with Smith at the helm will look more like the Titans offense of 2019/2020

Dereck Henry, AJ Brown, Corey Davis, Jonnu Smith
Najee Harris, George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth

It is a shame we couldn't pickup Jonnu Smith this off-season, but maybe Arthur can turn Connor Heyward into a good #2 pass catching TE.

Corey Davis who was WR #2 went 601 yards in 2019 to 984 in 2020. Would it be to much to ask rookie Roman Wilson to pickup 601 yards this season?

Well I brought it up. Because we are discussing how Smith offense was

    Screenshot_20240724_032924_Chrome.jpg

    who was their #2?
    Oh their TE.

    Who was their #3?
Oh another TE who doubled stats when joining falcons.

    Who was #4?
    Oh their RB.

it's a chain moving offense. ball control. keep the other QB on the sidelines. defense fresh. play improved special teams. good defense. sounds like a plan to me.

Have some big play and at least 22-25 PPG is important too...Good thing he was a much better OC with the titans that he was as HC in ATL

being a head coach brings on much more responsibilities. OC he can concentrate on one aspect of the game. atlanta's offense wasn't that bad. we have plenty in place to make this offense run smoothly, and a defense that should be better than average. this ain't going to be a high powered offense that moves up and down the field scoring bunches. we keep the other guy off the field and cold and let the defense do what they do, move the chains and end up with points and eating the clock.

Its all speculation until the pads come on and the first snap of the first game.

I will say this: Run, Run, Pass on a consistent basis ain't gonna cut it. This offense needs to be balanced. Unpredictable. Can Smith draw up the unpredictability? I hope so...

Thats right Mac. We only needed to improve our offense so the defense was not limping onto the field. Our injuries last year likely had more to do with the fact the offense sputtered than conditioning/fitness coaching.

he went for it 19 times last year and we were 9 of 19 or 47.4% made. our opponents went for it 18 times and were 8 of 18 or 44.4% made. just for fun stats. :smiley1::cool:

My son and I were looking into some 'outside the box' stats a couple years ago. One thing that still seems bizarre to me is teams are less likely to score if they start with the ball near mid-field. Starting with the ball between the 40s has a very low scoring drive percentage. I cannot figure why that would be.

Also, the success rate of going on 4th down is universally high enough to take the risk when the offense is in the same zone of the field. If the offense does not make the first down, the other team starts their drive within that low scoring drive percentage area of the field.

Just odd stats. They mean virtually nothing in the course of a game. But they exist.

The thing is,how many time of his fourth down attempts,Tomlin had no choice like at the end of the game behind the scoreboard?....Sure some head coach are more conservative that Tomlin on fourth down but he is not Dan Cambell too in that category!
