It was talked about in this thread, but nothing official had been released.

Ok the 2 big coaching openings filled...now on to evaluating players/etc. Now people can stop harping on why havent they hired anyone yet.

Still not completely sold on Smith, But the one thing i did always notice watching the skins game's with the wife is his clock management ability. Near the end of the second & fourth he was always close to Shannahan telling what he thought the best move was. Same thing on challenges. He has great football knowledge. If nothing else a slight improvement on ST and some clock management skills to help Tomlin will be an upgrade for this team!

Yeah, THAT! It's ridiculous how people get on here and harp about why we haven't hired anyone yet, Tomlin's indecisiveness and how he's too slow and deliberate when it comes to making decisions....oh, wait. I guess I was doing some of that wasn't I? Wow. How embarassing. Sorry guys. Continue on.

In all seriiousness these seem to be two pretty good hires but the proof will be in the pudding. We also felt that Al Everest and Sean Kugler were good hires and I really don't think those turned out to be anything special. Call me cynical.

I didnt mind Kugler....Everest wasnt great but he was WAY better than the guy who replaced him (no idea what his name is).

Maybe coaching is just a hobby while he's not busy making cookies.

Yeah, I'm not sure about Montgomery either... Certainly wouldn't break my heart if he was let go.

Kugler was impressive in his first season, the line made huge steps forward. It seemed to level off a bit after that, but he's also had injuries to contend with. Still, I think we have a few linemen who have played above their expectation, and that has to be a little bit down to Kugler.
