Steelers have 6 starters and 5 backups listed on the all-time 53 man SB roster. Pats only have 2 listed as starters. Hard to dispute the selections and every Steeler included certainly deserved it. Somehow though I would have found a spot or honorable mention for #92 for arguably the best all time play in SB history, not unlike Maz's immortal WS HR in 1960. This list though focuses more on cumulative stats and impacts associated with winning teams and multiple appearances.

While a great nostalgic walk down memory lane, the sad part is these Steeler players featured all played nearly 5 decades ago!

How does Rod Woodson not make it either as backup DB or PR? Same for Troy P at safety? Of course I'm biased but come on!!

Not certain but I believe the intent of the list was based on performances in SB games, not necessarily their collective careers. Obviously those who appeared in multiple games and won multiple times (like all Steelers on list) had an advantage over say one appearance or went down in defeat, even multiple times - e.g. Jim Kelly was in how many SBs but never won. Obviously guy who produced the list has an old school mentality and pulled up lots of names from long ago,

As it should be but I am biased. Weird he has reed at ss rather than fs. Troy belongs on the list. Good to see l.c. get some love as he should be in the HoF.

That probably explains how Timmy Smith didn't make this team

Timmy Smith is a name most younger fans wouldn't recognize. He still holds the Superbowl record for rushing yards in one game with 204 against the Broncos.

It was easy for everyone to see he was a product of the blocking by the Hogs. The guy didn't even have 200 total yards rushing in the entire regular season.

George Rogers was the bell cow rb during the regular season...... they went with Smith for the super bowl due to his speed.. he was the man for most of the following yr and was doing quite well until he got injured and was never heard from again

What exactly did Woodson do in the Super Bowl? Any interceptions? I remember him just playing after his knee injury but nothing outstanding. My memory of Troy is chasing Larry Fitzgerald down the field and not catching him.

What exactly did Bruce Smith do in his four Super Bowls other than lose? L.C. Greenwood dominated future Hall-of-Famer Ron Yary in Super Bowl IX and sacked Staubach how many times in Super Bowl X?

Alan Page on this list is an absolute joke. What did the famed Purple People Eaters do in four Super Bowls other than get dominated, absolutely disappear and have their opponents run over them setting record after record on them? Lose to Kansas City, Csonka sets a rushing record broken by Franco and then Clarence Davis rushes for 137 yards against the "legendary" Purple People Eaters.

It wasn't just the Super Bowl. Smith was also their leading rusher in their other two playoff games, too. Remember, it was a weird, disjointed season due to the players' strike. Some guy named Lionel Vital ran for 346 yards in the three scab games, then never played in the league again.

That team was a testament to the greatness of Joe Gibbs. Washington had a fantastic scab team that went 3-0. Gibbs found a way to bring his team back together and have them playing their best at playoff time.

Woodson was only on the field as a third cornerback in passing situations in Super Bowl XXX because that was his first game back from the torn ACL. He made a play or two, but didn't have much impact on the game. I don't remember him doing anything special in Super Bowl XXXV for the Ravens, either.

Polamalu was a hell of a player on two Super Bowl championship teams, but he wasn't a dominant factor in either game. It is hard to argue with Ronnie Lott, Ed Reed, or Willie Wood and I don't mind Shell over Polamalu. Remember, Shell is a Hall of Famer and played for all four Super Bowl teams in the '70s. He only started in the last two, but by then he was an All-Pro.

Rod Woodson had 7 solo tackles and 1 assist in 3 games in Super Bowls in his career.

I agree with Lawrence Taylor at OLB, but Von Miller? We are the "OLB University". Harrison, Lloyd, Greene, Porter, Gideon, Watt, Woodley....

If you look at the criteria, they put heavy weight on being named Super Bowl MVP, as Miller was for the Broncos in Super Bowl 50. He had two strip sacks deep in Carolina territory. One was recovered in the end zone and the other set up a touchdown, so he greatly affected the game's outcome.

Miller also played well for the Rams in their Superbowl win over the Bengals. I remember him having a big sack late in the game against Burrow.

He had two sacks in that game for a total of 4 1/2 in two Super Bowls. He helped two teams win and was named MVP for one of those games. He is an easy choice for that team.

Those 4 linebackers that are listed, Lawrence Taylor, Ray Lewis, Jack Lambert and Von Miller. My Lord you could take those 4 guys and invade Russia with.

More proof at what Bradshaw had to play with, and what Ben had to play with, but ....that's nice. LoL
