Tomlin 4ever - extension coming?

Y'all are assuming they won't look at tonight's outburst and decide they need to keep the current coordinators.

 

This is the worst nightmare. I love my team winning and felt so happy for Mason to have a good game but if this results in an extension for Tomlin it will just be the worst outcome imaginable.

 

Superbowl????? You got to win playoff games for that, dont you?

They aren't going to give Tomlin an extension just because they beat the Bengals , what if they lose their last two games?

 

That was before the game. Nothing to do with Mason. They sounded like they weren’t even worried if we finished 7-10.

 

The tweet makes it sound like Tomlin can stay as long as he wants. He’ll stay 4ever as he now wants to stick it to the large portion of the base that wants him gone. He’s arrogant like that.

Agree, what I was implying was all of sudden Mason gives 3 straight wins and that changes the narrative and then an extension happens. That would suck.

 

The extension is happening no matter what. Doesn't necessarily mean he's going to be here long term but he can't coach next season as a lame duck and he wasn't getting fired.

 

Tomlin always finds a way to get his 9-8 or 8-8-1, he's a real genius in that regard. I'm sure he'll get his extension based on yet another mediocre year, seems like that's all that matters to AR2

Maybe the team put out the leak about the extension to try to pump up his trade value?

 

I'm not a fan of perpetual .500 ball and I agree the choice of coordinators, especially Canada, has been terrible. That said, the Steelers have essentially been rebuilding since Ben went out with the elbow injury, and are still finding ways to be competitive every year.

Even this year, with a turnstile of an Online, poor QB play, and more injuries to defensive starters than I have ever seen, we are still in a position to fight for a playoff spot. I think that despite the adversity, Coach T has found a way to keep the team competitive.

In hindsight, his decision not to make Mason the starter may end up costing them a playoff spot. The losses to both 2-10 teams were bad. Otherwise, I think Coach T has done a pretty good job salvaging what little he has had to work with this year.

If Tomlin is extended, I'll say that A2 is a worse owner than Bob Nutting. At least Nutting knows that it's ok to shake up the franchise from time to time.
