I know a lot of fans were calling for them to bench Pickens, he had 4 catches for 195 yards and 2 TDs.

The most positive thing about this is that it could help his trade value if the Steelers want to trade him

It would have been a real disaster today if he would have quit

First time this season he played with a QB that wasn't throwing 5-10 yard passes, and read the field well ..............

Tomlin looks pretty smart right now. I’d have still benched him for on-field conduct detrimental to the team.

But before we crown Tomlin a genius, he also thought Mitch Trubisky was a better quarterback than Rudolph.

I still would have benched him. He's got a lot of growing up to do. Could have drawn a flag on his second TD catch for taunting.

No He didn't. I would bet money He didn't even bring Trubisky in. That's not a HC job. I don't know why I'm repeating Myself. You will believe what you want, and I don't say that trying to be mean.
    1. The organization didn't do it.... because of money, and Draft picks.
    2. Now their young 1st round pick is in his 1st Qb controversy.
    3. In all the time I have watched the Steelers... they very very very infrequently get off of 1st round picks.....they... as an organization hate to admit a bad pick...., and it can't be just Tomlin....because they been that way before He was even a coach.

So you think Colbert unilaterally went to Tomlin and said “Mike, I’ve decided to bring in Mitch Trubisky to be our next quarterback”? Tomlin had every bit as much to do with that decision as Colbert.

So you ignore that he was right to get him more involved because he can do it?

All I know is the owners, and GMS bring in the ingredients, and the coach makes the meal, and If One Guy is making 3 times the amount of another, and another is a 1st round draft pick....they want those players to work until they can't

That could be the case, but I think Tomlin had as much to do with player personnel and coaching decisions as Colbert did. That’s been part of the problem and I hope that changes in the off-season. Who plays and who sits should be performance based only but I think you may be right that other irrelevant factors have come in to play far too often in Tomlin’s regime. It’s time for that to stop!

I have a friend who played back in the day, and He said it happens all the time.....on every team. Players know this, but they know it's a business. Why do You think it took Bret K....so long to start, James Harrison, or Hell Kurt Warner. They knew what they had, but they have guys ahead making a lot of money...., and they can't do it without all of the organization in total agreement.

That may be the case but it’s like shooting yourself in the foot and cutting your nose off to spite your face (double cliche alert) at the same time. The players on the field should be the ones best equipped to help you win. Had Rudolph started against the Pats and the Colts, where would we be today? Probably in the playoffs as the fifth or sixth seed with a high probability of getting in. Now we have virtually no shot thanks to Mediocre Mitch.

The truth comes out in individuals when adversity is staring them in the face........

No one questions his talent...but when things go wrong again...where will he be?

Good grief, are you talking about Rudolph? He’s had nothing but adversity staring him in the face for the last three years and has persevered.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I was thinking earlier that a game like today will certainly not do anything to quell the diva like behavior. You do want your receivers to have confidence but I like it when there’s a healthy dose of humility mixed in.

To me, it's not a question of whether or not he has the physical traits to be a great wide receiver. He needs to grow up. He needs to play hard on all of his assignments whether the ball is coming his way or not. My feeling is that letting his behavior go unpunished gives him the green light to do as he pleases. Just my opinion, not looking to argue about it. Yes, I'm glad he had a big game and I'm happy they won, but I still would have benched him.

Agree, the win isn't worth sacrificing the lesson, you win the battle and lose the war when players realize there are not consequences. Look he taunted the defender on the way to a touchdown. Remember Brown not being confronted over the constant celebration penalties. Always respect your opponent, you are a professional!!
