There have been years in the Tomlin era when the only thing Steeler fans do when they see each other flying colors is shake our heads in commiseration. This applies more to fans in other cities when we run into other people wearing Steeler gear. It's a glance, an acknowledgement, and a downward looking headshake. None of the Go Steelers ****. Ashamed silence. Sucks.

I'm in the Charlotte NC area. I've always made it a point to connect with anyone wearing Pittsburgh gear with a "Go Steelers!" and raised fist. Late last year, I started seeing a few headshakes in return. That's the majority of the responses these days.

Typically I tend to make it a point to have at least a brief conversation with some Stillas fans during halftime but yesterday I found myself just wanting to be left alone and relax in my own little corner. Woof just rough... almost like having depression systems despite not being in an episode.

People see my hat and say "so you're a big Steeler fan/" all the time. Most of the time it's asked by non-Steeler fans.

I always reply "unfortunately". That shuts them down before they can get started.

I feel you. I've always loved the way other steeler fans I didn't know have addressed me when crossing paths wearing steeler gear. Ive always done the same even if its just yelling out "Steeler Nation" as I walk by a fellow steeler fan. My son noticed it too early on in his Fandom and loves it as well. It's a type of interaction I've never seen with other fan bases I've come across and has always made me proud.

I get it. Where I live we are in hiding. When we are going good I see at least 20-25 people in Steeler gear. We'd always nod to each other.

Funny story about that. About a week ago I'm in Walmart I see a very old man in a Steeler hat and Jersey. I went over to him to talk about our boys. We both noticed how are fellow fans have gone underground. I admitted to him I'm not just cause I got tired of hearing the crap. Now this guy had to be late 80's and his reply to me had me laughing hard. He looked up at me and said very plainly, "fcuk these ...... fans, I on my way out and I'm dying in Steeler gear." He's my new best friend;)

Most Steeler Fans I run into we just pass like the wind. There is nothing to say.

I was in Pittsburgh at the cheats game and besides coming here with my cyber brethren, Steeler Fans sitting around us felt the same. This team needs a change.

I wear my Steelers gear the same as I always have and although there's not many fellow fans in this area, I talk to them the same way as usual. I may come across as disappointed but never embarrassed. Some of you are being a little overdramatic.

Although I'll be cremated I'll be cremated wearing my Roberto Clemente jersey, my Steeler sweatpants and my Penguin socks. I'm planning on a black and gold fire.

Saw someone wearing a Steelers scarf while getting an oil change yesterday. I still said something, but it was along the lines of "wish the Steelers could win a game" rather than "go Steelers!"

My friend had a pet pig and I found it awesome. It really took to me, probably because of the sugar cubes I always had in my pocket. TBH I found it more loveable then his dogs.
