No matter how frustrated he may be with lack of good QB play and playcalls, there is no excuse for his lack of effort. The same can be said for DJ. They need to be benched and WRs on the roster that put in effort should start. Robinson and Austin or whoever. This will send a message to the team and probably make them better because they might actually have players that will block for their run heavy offense.

We can blame Tomlin for not benching them 100%. But he can't be blamed for their lack of effort. These are professional players. They shouldn't need cheerleaders and peptalkers to simply do their job.

For as much hate that the QBs get, and yes they are really really bad, I am amazed how the WRs get a pass. They should at least be doing their jobs. They aren't, so bench them.

There was no lack of effort by DJ tonight, just that one game for him. Pickens is a different story, every week now.

Tomlin has built this mindset by covering for the players and talking a good game in his press conferences (the only thing he is good at). This team needs a leader to start the rebuild and start holding everyone accountable. How can you justify sticking with mitch, and Tomlin allowing his team to give up on him.

Being at the game today and just watching the sidelines and how the Steeler players were all sitting on benches on the sideline and not showing enough pride to atleast stand.

I have been a fan since early 80s and this might be the worse steeler team I have ever seen. These players with the effort they are giving is embarrassing.

If we have to put up with a dramatic WR, at least give us AB levels of effort. Pickens is not doing that. While this may be an unpopular opinion, while Pickens can make some great highlight catches, I think he is way overrated. In general, all this commentator talk of "oh how are the Steelers only scoring 12 points a game with all this talent?!!?!?!??" I think is wrong. This collection of players, including all the QBs, isn't that good. There isn't this great talent that these people keep talking about. Otherwise we would be doing better.

We won a Super Bowl with War, Randel El, and Cedric Wilson as our top 3 WRs. This current group isn't all that like people say. (Johnson is the best of them though for sure)

Another unpopular observation/opinion that I have, the team decided this year to anoint Pickett as the sole offensive captain, replacing and not including Harris who Ben wanted to pass the torch as the next offensive leader. Pickett is at most a below average player, which isn't good enough and not good enough to be a captain. (on a side note, he was healthy enough to attend the game last week but was in a booth instead of on the field with his team? huh?) I know everyone hypes Pickett as having the "it" factor and is this great leader, but what does he actually do that shows that? To me, he displays little to no passion while on the field and when confronted with adversity, never seems to adjust to overcome it. He just goes to the sideline after the offense leaves the field and sits on the bench with Sullivan trying to talk to him and he never seems to be paying attention. Am I missing something here? To me, if I were comparing him to Ben, or Manning, Brady, Brees, Rivers, Mahomes, Allen, or even the other Manning, he just doesn't display VISIBLY the traits that make a good leader. To me. I might be missing something since I am not there of course, but it just seems detached. I want them to find a new QB that is the clear leader of the offense and actually displays leadership qualities. And can make NFL level throws. And score touchdowns.

Thinking about this a bit further, I think I agree but there are risks. Look at the Lions this year. Dan Campbell has changed their culture and is using the previously laughed at Goff at QB to be very very excellent. He changed their culture for sure. Stefanski with the Browns I think also changed their culture. We used to laugh at them but they are good now. On the flip side, you have your Rhule's (sp?) and Meyers out there who come in and ruin the culture.

I really think the Steelers just need a better QB and if that doesn't work, then yes Tomlin should go. If Tomplin leaves and Pickett stays and the new coach is even worse with Pickett at QB, what then? I hiiiighly double a new coach makes Pickett competent. He can't consistently make NFL level throws and reads. We need to understand that.

What happened on that 50/50 ball that ended up as a pick? I thought maybe he mis-timed his leap or something. I sure didn't mind that Trubisky gave him a chance. I believe he was 1 on 1 and he has to win there.

I think a lot of the rage at the backup QB Trubisky is pent up angst from people who still think Pickett is the franchise QB. Trubisky should be evaluated based on his role as a backup QB and nothing more. Rudolph isn't going to swoop in and save the season. He is a 3rd stringer for a reason. That sideline floater pass highlights why.

    When
im not sold or against pickett but as we sit here right now he had this team at 7-4 and they have looked like total **** since he went down. Tomlin is too arrogant to admit ha has no control over this team and its not just recently its been going on for awhile. The only thing that has saved his ass is Ben Roethlisberger. So yes the steelers need a Qb and I believe they can win with pickett even with a oline that is as bad as the one they have now.. it's time to get a coach that puts the team in the best position to win and can make hard decisions. Being everyone's friend and cheerleader doesn't work anymore

Essentially the safety came up and bumped him which was essentially the equivalent of a push in the back. When Pickens tried to elevate from the bump he was off balance and stumbled back into the attempted catch and couldn't really jump like he wanted to.

Well using that same logic, Canada also had us at 6-4 and now we are 7-7.

The defender shoved him before the ball arrived. That threw Pickens off stride, so he couldn't get a good jump on the ball. The officials blew it by not at least calling illegal contact on that one.

I don't care if Pickens has an attitude or not. He can back it up generally. He's not getting fines. Therefore I'm fine if he complains....... or are we going to start saying to remove members here because they complain in threads here?

We lost 3 straight. Two to horrible teams.

I mean they have him running 5 yards most of the time and the QBs are terrible. All of them. Not excusing bad behavior but WRs have always been divas and when your talent is being wasted with some of the worst playcalling and QB I’ve even seen, I’d be upset too. The Steelers offense doesn’t even look like a pro offense out there.

It's despicable. Embarrassing. However, is his lack of care and effort any worse than Moore? Cole? Muth?

The team needs serious professional coaching. How many times are they going to have Muth blocking? He can't block. If a TE can't block get him off the field. Where the heck is Washington. The decisions this team makes is mind-boggling. Absolute nutty

The contact may have impeded his jump, but the problem was the defender had his hands between Pickens's hands, so when it hit his right hand, he could not secure it with his left hand.

Pickens and whatever else it takes (as long as it's reasonable) for Addison. He and Kenny already have great chemistry. Doubt we could make it happen as Addison is the perfect compliment to Jefferson. People used to say we were great at drafing WR's. We absolutely suck at it lately.
