Yep, I'm gonna feel some heat on this, but SS although an accurate FG kicker this year has quite possibly the weakest leg in the NFL? Case in point he was great 43 yards and in, but 50 and over he quite honestly barely had the leg to get it there. Proof? Titans game and Cincy game. Couldn't get it there on game winners when they were 54 yard attempts. As in 4 yards short? The Cincy game when they sent him out I was screaming WHY? Because of what happened in Tennessee. Having a FG kicker who has a strong leg is a weapon some just don't have the luxury of. So, do you take safe and accurate, or a rocket leg with less accuracy?..

Suisham is one of the few spots on our team, we can't complain about. He was one of the best kickers in the league. Of his 3 misses, two of them were Tomlin's fault for sending him out, when they were clearly out of his range, and the other was Warren's fault on the bad snap. The guy coulda been perfect on the year! He showed up every game unlike the majority of our team.

    No. SS is just fine.

A kicker is one of the few things that doesn't need addressed.

I'll take Suisham anyday! Sure a guy like Zuerlin from St. Louis has a huge leg but how many misses did he have?? Suisham won us games this year, and as far as I"m concerned certainly didn't lose any.

i was thinking the same thing. Butler started off well, but he really struggled down the stretch.

If Crosby or Dawson pop open...I would take a swing at both.

Im hoping the Eagles clean house..and pop Bobby April open for another round in Pitt.

He's a keeper. Just get him in range, meaning under half a football field.

Crosby is currently 2-9 on 50+ yarders this year and has missed more FG than any kicker in the league.:goofy:

I think I've officially read it all on this message board.
At this point there is nothing that would surprise me.

In the 2 1/2 season SS has kicked for us he is 26/32 between 40-49(12/12 this year). 2/5 from 50+ 2 of those 5 were attempted at home where the long is (I believe) 52 maybe 54 (not sure).

I was a big Skippy supporter. Didnt want SS over 3. I was wrong.

What's funny is I actually said during the gameday thread that Suisham was the best thing we had and that Tomlin would probably cut him. I was actually joking but apparently some people wouldn't think it's that funny.

I say fire the front office receptionist. I hear she's unfriendly and putting the guys in a bad frame of mind causing them to not practice so well. :lolol:

FG kicker is very good, our Punter is one of the worst in the league. What he does decent is hold for the field goals.

Of all the issues with this team this year, PK was waaaay down the list. But having said that, bring in competition to camp, if the new guy is better let SS go. I wouldn't waste a draft pick on a kicker, but there are always guys looking for work and sometimes they work out........ Just like Shaun Suisham.

SS is the least of our worries. He kicked great this year and was just behind the Pro Bowl selection Phil Dawson on accuracy. The bigger question is how we fix our offense issues of not scoring TD's in the redzone and play calling to get us in better field goal postion outside the redzone. SS shouldn't have been needed in a few games this year to win the game or keep us in it.

I say keep SS and sign players to fix the other issues

I was screaming "why" too. But I was screaming "why" because FG attempts of longer than 50 yards at Heinz Field are good only 25% of the time, regardless of who is kicking the ball. Not because it was Suisham.

If Ben would stop taking dumb sacks on 3rd down, SS could kick from 46yds instead of 54. :dancing:
