If you're not comforted by those words uttered by Mike Tomlin over the complete incompetence of the team's offense, then, well, I guess your a normal, thinking fan.

Read that article, and, well, basically weap. Tomlin basically admits that nothing has really changed. A good thing, as we are....

32nd in time of possession per drive. 32nd in that.
32nd in rushing TDs (league last place with zero).
30th in completion %. But Kenny is an exciting "franchise QB?"
30th in PPG and in yards per game.

SO, what did they do in the entire offseason? They got worse in all areas. So it's a good thing they did their "due diligence" in looking over things this bye week. I feel secure now.

It's hard not to. I guess Tomlin is just full-bore out of it.

The thing I'll never understand is why can't Tomlin see the wisdom in just retiring? 17 years is a long time to be a head coach, and it's not like the Steelers have been any kind of SB threat for the last 10 years. I'm sure he must understand that it would be a good time to retire after this season, or next season at the latest, and let Kahn/Weidle set their own mark with a fresh new head coach. I'm sure those two guys would secretly be ecstatic if Tomlin stepped down

The Boss wanted the Running game fixed years ago.
    The Offense got even worse.

So he can quit all the cool talking.

    Points per game don't lie.

I will start by saying I’m not happy with the coaching or play calling. Having said that, what did you want Tomlin to say. I don’t know why people even bother to watch the news conferences or interviews with reporters. It’s all canned messages and scripted anyway.

He might step down after the season, or he could be going into the 2024 season as a lame duck HC.

At 12.5 million per year the only thing Mike Tomlin is stepping down to is a super nice beach house in the off-season.

He’s being paid 12.5 mil a year to have blank stares on the sideline and give catchy phrases. Why would be retire?

I don’t get how these players say he’s the best coach ever. They really must not care about winning a playoff game.

Yea the chick is hot but at some point she’s gotta put out or move on.

Why on Earth would he see retiring as a good idea when he is only 51 years old? Why would he care to let them hand his team to another coach? That makes no sense at all.

Actually, "retire" is probably the wrong word. Resign is what I meant

That isn't quite as ridiculous, but my question still stands. Why would he want to do that?

He makes $12.5M per year. He's managed to sucker someone to pay him that much... he's going to be milking that for as long as the sucker lets him.

This is either the last year of Tomlin with us or he will have a extension next offseason.Maybe a trade could be a possibility like the saints did with Payton

Tomlin is a very good head coach, but it is also possible that it would be time for the Steelers for a change, a bit like the Eagles with Andy Reid after 2012...And the Eagles and Andy Reid have had a lot of success since then.

That's what I was alluding to. He's still relatively young, plenty of time to write a new chapter in his coaching career. Things have grown stale with him in Pittsburgh, probably a good time for a change for Tomlin and the Steelers

See, I don't see what Tomlin has done to be considered a "very good head coach." He has the quote game down, he is good at becoming buddies with players. But how many instances do we need to observe where players are admitting that the team, in general, lacks discipline? I mean, his rookie QB came out and admitted that. How is a HC who infamously lets a team run so loosely be considered such a great "head coach?"
