Najee was the third best offensive player.

Proving we really need DJ back if that is our third best offensive player (14 carries for 37 yards and 1 catch for 3 yards)

Yeah. It was similar to a big run Warren had last season when they were on the field together.

Shows they did gameplan a little bit because they used it as I described earlier with the end around to Pickens as well. The entire defense flowed over on Najee and opened up the on the right for Pickens.

Here is the play. I was really watching Pickens block. I wasnt sure if they wanted to flag him or Queen for lowering his head on Pickens. The article has all the offensive plays worth watching

The way Jaylen Warren saw it, the Steelers' sickly offense, the subject of scorn across the football world, has needed to clear a couple hurdles for quite a while: 1. Earn opposing defenses' respect for the run. 2. Earn opposing defenses' ...

Didn't the old NFL always have two in the back field? Maybe this is our new secret weapon.

Noticed this. I thought good we're changing it up. Next I'd love to see I formation in short yardage rather than shotgun

I guess that makes Kaboly the swami for predicting it back in May. https://theathletic.com/4557904/2023/05/28/steelers-backfield-jaylen-warren-najee-harris/ But you and I have talked about that on here before I think - Canada's penchant for unusual multiple back configurations at Syracuse, where Jaylen Samuels lined up at H-back so often with much success, which we have seen Connor Heyward doing several times with success this season.

Yeah my brother in law always yells at the teevee every time Najee runs off tackle for little or no gain but ya gotta do that to set up everything else and Najee's the guy to do it. 3 yards and a cloud o dust. I like it a lot better than seeing him get creamed on dump- offs from Trubisky alla time.

Just noticed on the video of that play how bad Harris was at running out the fake hand off from the QB.

Some teams still sprinkle it in on occasion. The Steelers might have been the last team to do it regularly, but that was when Chuck Noll was still the head coach. Merril Hoge was a fullback, but he was often the primary ball carrier, including Noll's final season in 1991. When Cowher took over, he still played with two backs, but it was a lot more I-formation with Barry Foster getting the bulk of the carries. Hoge was still there, but he only got 41 carries all season while Foster ran it 390 times, which I believe was the team record.

Some of us were clamoring for them to run two back formations. They should especially be using it while DJ is hurt. Are you really worried about pulling Gunner or Boykin off the field.

Still, Warrens playmaking made that play work. I have to laugh at the Warren only gets positive yardage because defenses ignore him narrative. That was true of last season but you think maybe a guy who has earned half the workload might have the attention of DC’s now???

A better fake might have held the LB a split second longer. The LB that finished off the tackle. He may have seen Pickett had an empty hand

This, but for some reason some on Here don't see this. It's really simple to see. Wherever Najee goes the most of the whole D follows....should be many more misdirection plays made off it ....

The San Fran game was a clinic last night of excellent blocking and great play designs. Give us a stud at center and the make that line next year the strength of our team and watch how we execute!!

Yeah back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, before the league changed all the rules to hand everything to the passing game, the runner used to follow the fullback. But they did that in the Big Ben era too. Remember All-pro Roosevelt Nix? These days when TJ Watt is out the Steelers lose. Those days when Rosie Nix was out the Steelers lost. And Connor Hayward is a fullback although he doesn't always line up as one. He's a fullback among other things.

Did anyone see this one? I saw the second block during the game but missed the monster block to start the play

I missed the first block but definitely noticed Pickens was getting into blocking and was effective
