Who would you want as OC if the Steelers pulled the rip on Canada?

Would the Black and Gold consider Whisenhunt or was there bad blood when he left? He made Ben work hard and that's when Ben wanted warm and fuzzy handling? I thought Whis was a good OC. Leftwich is hard because he had Brady so was it his system or Brady being Brady?

Since Canada is unacceptable to most around here (no offense Bob) is there an OC named Mexico?

The issue is how can a new guy implement a complete system change after the start of a season? I know a team or teams have changed OC's and other personal during a season, and from what some have posted some have had success. I really do not know, but the task seems daunting. More likely I think you see (if even that) a demotion of elements for Canada and someone from inside given scheming and play calling responsibilities. All the excuses are laid bare, we have the evidence from several years, and now after massive talk that things would be better, it is still the same crap. A complete overhaul is telling every player on O that we are going to learn a new system, language, responsibilities, getting outside eyes in to consult with a different play caller who knows the current system, working out the issues, perhaps implementing new plays and/or concepts seems more practical.

Pretty sure the Ravens did it mid-season and won the Super Bowl

Ravens are the only ones that come to mind, they actually won the SB after changing OC’s in season.

But yes, generally it is challenging to do on the fly.

Also challenging to even find someone to hire as an OC at this point. I’d probably just roll the dice with Glenn Thomas and try and tweak some things.

Todd Haley. His plays are creative. His biggest problem is his ego. Now if we are talking about wish list without reality then Kyle Shanahan.

It is darn near impossible to replace an Offensive Coordinator just 2 games into the season with anyone of quality.
No one is going to quite their team to join. (As I recall, it's against the rules anyway)
And no one of any quality is unemployed and couldn't implement anything fast enough to be effective.

Sullivan would be the obvious choice at this juncture.
But my gut says he wouldn't be much of an improvement.

Going into the offseason, I have a list of targets.. I'd probably rip off SF's staff most.

Tom is not going to know what to do with himself. Probably get bored and be a QB Coach.

That makes to much sense, lol. You have a system 'like' that in place, it is the depth, scheming, and ultimate coaching from top to bottom that is suspect. To go to a fruit tree that has had that success seems to complicated for this team, I'm thinking Rutgers, Maryland, and Pitt get attention.

I'm betting if we continue to **** the bed, they make a move at the bye and promote the qb coach until the end of the season. Tomlin made it clear the coaching has to improve and they are not prepared for what the defensive might be. If you think about that comment, that is basically saying you are not doing your job as an OC because that's exactly what you are supposed to be doing!! If that continues no way you keep the guy for 16 games.

    Is Byron Leftwich employed anywhere?

    Todd Haley would be interesting.

And where did Mike Munchak get off to? Give Munchak the OC title and let him come in and revamp the O-Line ASAP!

I would bet all 3 of these guy would be available to come to Pittsburgh with a phone call right now.

Talk of an OC change during the season is a nonstarter with this organization. However, I would think that anyone taking over the OC responsibilities would not implement an entirely new offense at this point. I would imagine that the problem with the offense isn't the playbook, but how it's used. Down and yardage situational play calling and strategy is where the OC's brain is basically tasked with. Plus, the cultural change needed to get all that talent pulling in the same direction all at the same time. The game is heavily dependent on the mental side of the equation, and I'd image that there may be some offensive players pissed off right now by how things are going and the desire for change. Being so many on this board wanting MC gone, just like the end of last year for the same reasons, what made members predict that we were going to the postseason? JMO>

Bears DC Alan Williams just resigned after 2 weeks. Don't say it will not happen after only 2 games.

    Could Canada be next?

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Alan Williams resigned on Wednesday, after two weeks of his second season with the team. "It is with great regret that I tender my resignation as the defensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears Football Club, effective immediately," Williams said in a statement.

Munch and Kubiak because they are close to what the Rooney's want as far offense.

If he had a bit more seasoning Hines Ward.
