    1. Why keep 2 punters, but cut an immovable object like Fehoko

    2. Is Breden Mann trade bait or is Presley Harvin on a short leash

    3. Does the team keep Mason Rudolph or does it sign someone with more upside (ie,Bailey Zapp, Jake From etc)

    4. Does the disappointing James Pierre stick around or does the team take a flyer on Bradley Robey etc..

Who among our final cuts gets back to us via PS

I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but there's also the chance Larry Ogunjobi goes IR. That would open up another spot.

There are probably three moves to make post-53-man roster. Solving the punter issue, finding an upgrade at CB over Pierre, and Ogunjobi status. It would be amazing if Khan got a draft pick for a punter.

I understand he has been held out but is there an update that would indicate him starting the season on IR? Didn't see any updates.

if he was going on IR I would think they would have made that move today, even the 4 week list. Players like Fehoko with vet status (especially having been signed a FA) do not have to clear waivers, so if Ogunjobi was going on IR, it would have been done prior to cuts. Not that Fehoko was the necessary replacement, but..oh well lol.

2 punters is a head scratcher, have a feeling it gets sorted real soon. Unless traded, I don't think MR is going anywhere. We went through this a couple of years ago, MR might be bad, but he knows the system, the line and run game is improved, the talent around him is better, in an emergency he is better than an unproven rook or other tar and feathered journeyman.

I wouldn't mind Zappe over Rudolph, but the latter knows the system so I doubt that switch happens.

I am really disappointed to see Fehoko go. I hope they can re-sign him when they trade or cut one of the punters.

I like Fehoko but didn't see anything great there. I know Harvin will stick around but I like Mann better. Getting a 7th for a punter would be just fine with everyone here. I'd surely cut Mason for a better/younger option but I'm not sure how good any of those guys really are. Pierre stinks but, like the QB situation, every available replacement has some warts.

I think it was risky, going with 4 ILB's is also a risk with some of the injury history, all 3, Fehoko, Muse, and Kwiatkoski could get signed by others, but you take chances to hopefully get better yet, lol

If he goes IR before rosters are set, he's out for the year. If he makes the 53 (not sure what day and time it becomes official) and is put on IR, then he can return any time during the season.

I get that, but if they don't get something for one of those punters, I think they made a mistake. I thought they should have kept Muse. If not him, then one of Kwiatkowski or Fehoko. Losing all three to play games might come back to bite them in the ass.

IDK who or what team, but some one today was placed on IR and can return in 4 weeks, one of those radio reports. Not exactly sure what time, but it was while driving for work. Could have been after cuts, but I get your point.

I agree, we forget that they are not all stars, thats a lot of experience to let go, and seemingly played well in pre.

So no big surprises about the cuts getting us down to 53?

Gentry should find a job somewhere.

Bailey Zappe would be a huge improvement over Rudolph. He played quite well as a rookie last year in Jones absence.

OK..so I understand this as you wrote it, if they want Fehoko back (or any cut vet for that matter), they could have placed him on the IR after the 53 was official, then signed one of them immediately because they do not have to clear waivers. Unless there is a wait I am unaware of, guess we'll see.

I am just shocked James Pierre made the roster after how bad he looked in Atlanta. But, I guess they have another 14 days to change their mind.

The language gets confusing. Technically being listed as on IR prior to the close of the waiver period following final roster cuts (Aug 30 this year) results in that player being out for the year. Waiting the extra day ties up a spot on the 53-man roster during cuts, but enables them to then be placed on IR (and come back off the 53) and return once medically cleared.

An alternative designation under IR is the Reserve/PUP list. Designating a player here by the final round of cuts removes them from counting against the 53 but requires they miss at least the team’s first four games. This is what the Cardinals just did with Murray.

It isn't a matter of changing their minds. If they can find a better option among those who were cut, they can sign that player and cut Pierre. If not, they at least have a guy who can help on special teams.

I just have to wonder if Gentry's Boot cost him a spot on the 53?

With the evidence of this whole off season of Kahn and Weidle, this duo of punters has a chess move written all over it. Something good is going to happen; but just how good is yet to be known.

I’ve never felt better about the war room for the Steelers as I do now.

I’m wondering if something could ever come together with the Cheatriots and Mason or Tribisky (doubt him) while they have no 2nd string QB on the books right now.

Is there a deeper QB room in the league right now who could actually deal a third as strong as Mason Rudolf? Who could Belicheat be looking at?

Kahn and that creep already shook hands in the draft so we could get Broderick Jones.

    1. I would have preferred to keep Fehoko over Montravius Adams. I especially like what he could give us in short yardage defensive packages.
    2. I am fine with Pierre as the #4 outside corner based on performance in prior regular seasons. Yea, he struggled a bit this preseason but he’s shown that he’s a legit bottom-of-the-roster type of CB in real action. That said, I’d upgrade if the opportunity presented itself. I just don’t see that as a priority.
    3. I don’t love our situation at backup safety. If we suffer one injury, Killebrew will likely be playing significant snaps. I like him on special teams, but that’s about it.
    4. For the folks talking about changing the QB situation, I disagree. I think our backups are OK. We can win a few games in a pinch with either one if the rest of the team plays solid ball. If KP is lost for the season, we’re doomed, and there are no available QBs who would change that. Most teams are doomed if their starter is lost for the season. It seems like only San Francisco has figured out how to scheme in a way that allows average QBs to win consistently.
