Good news. Funny, I wonder if it was watching Holcomb guard Austin yestersday that sealed the deal? :)

Surprised by this but shouldn’t be Omar strikes again. Solid pickup, he can ball.

Why would you have an ILBer guarding Austin anyway?!

Likely Kwon couldn't find a better deal elsewhere and was running out of time. The Khan artist wins again!

There aren't many linebackers that are going to run with a WR that runs a 4.32!

    That's a mismatch.

I'm going to take a big leap here and say based on the video clips I've seen they were working on positioning less on match ups and it really looks hands off on nearly every pass play. There is hand fighting and jostling but once the ball is there it looks more like lets try to slap the ball out.

He is an athletic linebacker who can help in coverage. He also started 12 games for a damn good defense last year, so signing him as a backup works just fine. The Steelers got more physical while gaining experience and athleticism at inside linebacker this offseason. I don't see much to criticize here.

Holcomb, Roberts, Alexander and Robinson round out the group.

Holcomb is a full participant in camp which is a positive. I feel this signing is a safe play in case he has a setback.

i'm not saying he won't be a good backup but some on here think he will solve our coverage problems since they couldn't cover austin.

last year he had 1 pass defended. one forced fumble and 69 tackles and 1/2 a sack. he hasn't had a 100 tackle season since 2016. that is the one and only one he has ever had.

    he's had 7 passes defended since 2019. he's had 2 interceptions since 2017.

his completion percentage against is the highest the last two years than it was since his rookie year. depth yes but nothing special here. none of these LB'ers are going to play the position like a safety.

    Stop overanalyzing that!

Nobody said he will be the saviour, the only thing we want for him is to be good in pass coverage for his position... An ILB which is good in pass coverage, that's something that the steelers have been missing for several years...Hope he will help us on this

Geez a guy who kills the SB fever of padless practices with indisputable facts, lol. Besides the Austin incident with Holcomb (which was not really and incident) several of the YT vids (for what they are worth) have stated all of the ILB's have looked pretty good (without pads and going against speedy Gonzales of course).

The depth chart for ILB only had 5 listed, maybe some other scrub(s) not listed, there is no real depth. Solid pick up, but one of these vets might not even make it out of camp.

Wow, great signing. See people saying it’s a good depth signing, not so sure about that. This guy can ball. Just has trouble staying healthy. Think this spells trouble for Roberts and/or Robinson.

We figured they liked Roberts hard hitting down hill style to Holcombs speed but Kwon is fast AND can hit. Having both Holcomb and Kown out there will be real interesting. Both are fast both can hit.

That's a lot of stats without context. KA will be a backup. My concern is that's too many new faces at ILB for my personal comfort. Cover assignments, blitz assignments, gap assignments, etc....

holcomb i believe is the only consistent ILB we have. i mean he does everything pretty well down to down. the one guy does this well and one guy does that well thing will hinder the defense. we need one of them to step up the overall game. we have speed at the position. don't forget keanu neal will be in the mix too at times. everyone of the LB'ers we have, have a ton of potential. this is probably as deep at the position as we have been in many years.

Alexander is going to see more action than you think, especially in passing downs and against passing teams like the bengals in our division...the key is going to be to stay healthy as always but our group of ILB can't be worse than last year
