I'm under the opinion Mike stays as long as he wants. Love him or hate him he is going to be our HC. I'm in agreement with OP on one year at a time. I know a lot of people feel Tomlin's record is thanks to Ben and I sure get that but the last few years Mike has had to rally the troops and he did to a degree.

Only way I see Mike leaving is if he tires of being an NFL HC or the Steelers have a really bad season. Cowher's head was never in danger with those 6-10 seasons. Thankfully we only had 2.

As Tomlin had Ben, Cowher had Neil. OK that is a little joke:)

    LETS GO MAULERS!!!!

Unless they fall apart, even then the Rooney's have traditionally had a very long rope. I may be wrong, but I believe Noll was given the opportunity to stay, but all the Coach's escept Joe Green were on the chopping block. My memory is fading on this, lol, but Chuck decided to call it a career.

3 playoff wins in 12 years. You just can’t get rid of that type of production. MT4LYFE

Pressure for Tomlin to get to the playoffs or after 2023, the team could be looking at another coach.

I am hoping a fire is lit under Tomlin with a skip on an extension.

12 years, 3 playoff wins. 6 years without a playoff win, 3 of them they got scorched for 40+

I don't give a $hit about winning seasons. Its playoff wins I crave as a Steeler Fan. But hey, it's the new Standard right?! I thought the Standard was Playoffs and Super Bowls. In which they haven't had a championship in 14 years. But hey, who's counting.

I'm a realist and unfortunately believe he will get the extension.

I personally will be tuning out of his boring cliché laden post game pressers as well as the Tuesday one. His shtick is tired and old. It gives me anxiety listening to him.

I don't care what others think, I think for myself. Also not driven by outside forces telling me how to think and feel.

The fact is that Tomlin was afforded a perfect situation when hired. One of the greatest defensive coordinators ever, A franchise QB and solid talent on offense and a defense loaded with talent. Just look at the trajectory after Super Bowl XLIII. Sans the non losing seasons the arrow has not pointed up.

Some will criticize the players giving a pass to the coaching staff. Fine. Look at the trajectory.

Some will bring up the "Who would you want to coach if Tomlin left"? I didn't know a darn thing about Tomlin when he was hired. Like there is no one in the universe that could take the reins. They found Tomlin they will find someone else.

And your point? Good enough for you I take.

You know it's bad when the Bengals have more play off wins in that time than the Steelers do

these discussions about tomlin are pointless. he will coach here as long as he wants to. That's it. I don't care if he doesn't get another playoff win for the next 12 years he will be the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers

You could take out a piece of almost every teams history, and do that.....same with playoff wins. I find usually(not always)it's guys that are young, or actually new fans that do this. I have watch as it happened quite a few SBs by the Steelers. So I'm not complaining yet. Ive seen every great coach You can name not win playoff games, and not even have a winning season. I have heard a whole lot on here tell Me how Andy Reid is the best coach in the league.....yet I heard many many Philadelphia fans say He sucked, and couldn't win the big game.....I even heard die hard KC fans say the same until.....abracadabra.....He got Mahomes. Nobody ever ever takes into consideration that this conference AFC North has had the most 3 teams in the playoffs, or that since Tomlin has been here....3 teams have been to the SB, and 2 won it from the same division. Lots of things go into a season. I actually find it funny that some think having winning seasons are easy. LoL
Also I also have seen some of the coaches in the past people have said are better....example: Matt Nagy, and now those same people won't even admit they said it. LoL

    So maybe he should cut Mahomes and prove how good a coach he is? In that vane Coach Brian Billick is the greatest coach ever. He won a superbowl with one of the worst QBs in the league. Great defense but horrible QB. The coach coaches the players provided to him. Are you saying Tomlin hasn't had talent to win with? He has had great talent and only won 3 playoff games in 12 years. That is NOT a great coach. I think he's a good coach that has stayed to long and needs to go. But then that's just me. Please be gentle with your disagreement I'm feeling horribly vulnerable today {sniff}

For that matter, the Browns have more Playoff wins than the Steelers do since 2020. Let me repeat that.... the Browns....

    ... Think about that..

Let’s ignore that the ravens had one of the all time great defenses and a very good running game

and the ravens were very mediocre for most of the time under Billick outside of 2000 and 2006

The ravens offense were a laughing stock year after year under Brian Billick....I mean even in 2000, the ravens did not score a single TD in 5 games in october! For Andy Reid, he was very close to being in the HOF before the Mahomes era... He proved a lot of things... his resume without Mahomes is 100 times much better than the one of Belichick without Brady
