They brought in a ton of those guys to look at this year. I'm guessing Kuntz maybe on the way out if he struggles this year.

He was fine on most of the FG kicks, but I noticed some funky placements on punt snaps, which could have been why Harvin had some rhythm issues.

I think Harvin's issues go beyond rhythm. But maybe you're right. We'll see

This. I can't play the blame game on a long snapper when he is majorly inconsistent. Every time they need to punt you cross your fingers and toes he doesn't shank one. He needs to be replaced.

I thought it was on a recent Asked and answered from Labriola, but I cannot find it. The reference gave a couple of stats and he said the Steelers may not have the same opinion as fans on Harvin, he included his PK holding with that. I agree with you however, I could give a pass on his first year, losing his dad during the season, a couple of other issues during that same time period, but there are just to many inconsistencies. I think it was Chuck Noll during a period when that punter (whoever) and kicker were problematic. He said K's can sometimes miss, P's can't. That is a simplification of his statement, but the idea was the P has much less leeway in error. Fair or not, that was from a guy who coached his own Sp Teams many years after he became a HC.

He is also 29 which in general is not old but long snappers tend to beat the crap out of their shoulders

Maybe they are just looking at options incase he gets injured

They usually bring a backup in to learn the basics in case they need one during the season. Ratkofsky was one they brought in late one season and he ended up with a super bowl ring I think.

Boswell may be looking for a reason he was so bad last year. Is this something to point to?

Is this like the blind man who walks past the fish market every day and says "Good morning Ladies"?

That's what I was thinking, but they didn't sign any of them to come in and compete. They just worked them out.

I'm not just talking about the punt snaps either, even though he hasn't been terrible, Harvin had to save a few high snaps on FGs last year too. I think he's the one who had the penalty on the 60 yarder Harvin hit in the Bengals game too, caused that to not be a touchback late in that first game.

EDIT: just went back and watched the highlights of that game. That throwback pass to Friarmeuth was awesome. They should have won that game by way more the way they were on Burrow. Minka was on a mission as well. Man that was a performance!

They would have if Trubisky wasn't so bad in that game.

or the blind guy that could smell a board and tell what type of wood it was.

They sat him down and brought a board and he smelled it and said turn it over and smelled the other side and said that's red oak.

they brought him another one and he smelled one side and said turn it over and smelled the other side and said that's walnut.

They then started laughing and decided to trick the old man and had one of their wives lay down. He smelled one side and said turn it over and then he smelled the other side. He got this funny look on his face and said, that's a **** house door off a tuna boat.:smiley1::cool:

Played darts with Sweeny at Pitt. Had to shoot from between your legs from center position. He always won. Just sayin.

I talked to a Pro Long Snapper once he said the difference between playing in the NFL for 10 years and never getting a try out for an NFL team.. comes down to a few or even one Hundred(s) of a Second on Long snap times.

Look no further than game #1 last year Cincy got their long snapper hurt in the game. Fitzpatrick blocked the FG attempt went to over time. If Cincy had their long snapper not get hurt we probably end up losing that game last year.

I also remember back in 2008 or 2010 I can't remember the year, Greg Warren got hurt, James Harrison came in the game and launched the ball clear over Mitch Berger's head and it ended up a Safety, Steelers ended up losing the game mainly because of that to the Giants.

It still wouldn't feel or sound right to say "I'll have Obsolete Bud-Light Ads for $500 Ken". Plus someone else (also obsolete) would throw a fit.

He is terribly inconsistent, we need all facets of the game to be on top of their game
against the KC's, Cincy. Buffalo's, Miami's, Baltimore. by flipping the field this
could get us where we need to be.
