What am I talking about is your comment based on the assertion that players don't have the freedom of choice to operate on plays as they happen and/or before they do. As I said, if this was merely just average starting players, I would agree.

Players like Franco Harris though are in Canton for a reason; they created positive aspects before or within plays for the plays themselves to be successful; taking control when needed. All I am stating is that there are smart players today who can create the opening needed for teams to consistently win.. much like Franco did long ago. Having a concept of play calling like RPOs can assist but it is not an end all, be all for players to be smart and act accordingly to give their teams the chance to win games.

Kenny if you want to be better then Ben ... just be consistent. Ben was great but had no consistency in play. One game look like a hof'er... next game ... lose to a walkover team. Don't let it be your playing ... that loses the game. And for God sake ... study film and practice with your receivers. Build a rapport with them

Different circumstances. Ben is retired and not playing for another team. Favre (Vikings) actually got to play against Rodgers a few times. And Favre and Vikings won IIRC.

Correction: Favre swept Rodgers in '09. Rodgers swept Favre in '10.

This was my point. I was hoping the only responses on this thread would be directing that troll back to the Willis thread since many posters wanted Benny to return for a well-earned serving of crow.

It is funny, you and the Pittsburgh media are doing the same thing. I watched the Ramon Foster show with DK and DK was acting like this was new.

For the people that had been watching Ben's weekly pod cast during the season this was just a review of what we had seen every week last season. Ben liked Kenny about as much as he liked Mason when the season began. And then when Kenny got the start, you slowly watched Ben come around as the season went along. By the end of the season Ben admitted he was totally wrong about Kenny's future in the NFL, and really like what he was seeing during the games.

It is funny Ben got blasted for his comments about Tom Brady during his podcast as well. He said Tom had lost the desire to play and he could tell Brady was no longer happy being out on the field. The media once again bashed Ben for his comments on what he was thinking.

Ben has no business in politics because he just like speaking his mind when there is a microphone in front of him.

It's not that he speaks his mind that will keep him out of politics. It's that occasionally the truth slips out.

I was referring to Favre not wanting Rodgers to succeed ... let alone excel as his replacement. Your take, make Ben evenmore pettier then Favre. Ben retired but Favre came back to play.

It's not like Favre was a washed up scrub in '09. Vikings/Favre made it to the NFC Championship. Ben didn't sniff a Championship game after the '16 season.

If you look at the last 6 seasons(2005 t0 2010) of Favre,he was great in 2007 and 2009,but he was below average in the other 4 seasons. He had 29 interceptions in 2005 in a 4-12 season for the packers!

For Ben,this is true he was also below average in his last 3 seasons(2019 to 2021)

    Similar note

Bum Phillips was asked to compare George Rogers to Earl Campbell

Bun: George will run around defenders that Earl wouldn’t have bothered with

People like to overlook or undervalue the fact that Bradshaw called his own plays.
And only a very smart person (maybe not book smarts) could have carved out an after football career of acting, singing, one-man shows and of course his work with Fox. Bradshaw is brilliant in how he has marketed himself.

I agree with you on this. Ben stating he wanted Kenny to fail due to his own ego is case-in-point what he did to Mason. He sung praises of Duck and Haskins, both who were not a threat to him. I do believe as Ben’s skills deteriorated he wanted the Steelers to have a losing season after he retired. It definitely would have inflated his ego more.

It's not all that hard to understand that logic. I'm one of the better welders in my company. I want everyone I help to do well. My ego doesn't necessarily want them to be better than me. Simple human nature.
