Now this Rodgers to the Jets will dominate the news coverage the rest of free agency .

I’d cut him, take the savings and sign another mid-level ILB for less then Jack costs.

He’s decent against the run. Awful against the pass. Same as pretty much all our ILBs last season.

I’d like to keep Hack to pair with Evans and have Holcomb and our pick from last year as the backup pair. Release those below. THEN I think we’d be set at ILB.

If he could be had for half the price of Tribs I’d do it.

I don't know if I necessarily agree with you about when Schobert came to the Steelers. He was only one year older then Cole Holcomb is now, when Joe came to the Steelers. And as I said, the year before he came to the Steelers, his stats were very similar to what Holcomb's were his last full season. Either way, he is definitely an upgrade to their linebacker room for sure.

Steelers should keep Jack, decent chance he balls out in a contract year.

Myles Jack wore the Green Dot I believe in 2022 except when he missed some games injured then Spillane got it.

Cutting Witherspoon and Olszewski is a no brainer. Gunner will cost 617,500 dead cap and they save 2 mill. Spoon will cost 1,482.500 dead cap but will save 4 mill.

I believe they will extend Trubisky possibly 2 more seasons which would bring his number down.

I don't see them cutting Chuks but a restructure could be in the cards. Unless their thinking about moving Moore to the right? Of course our franchise left tackle will be starting we got in the 1st.

It's a good thing you aren't the Steelers GM, Ryan is washed up and can't move in the pocket, Tribusky isn't great but I would take him over Ryan.

JuJu finally got paid. Have to wonder about that knee though if a WR starved team like the Chiefs didn’t hold onto him.

Holcomb is a decent pickup. I think he is a slightly better version of Spillane. Dont forget he was playing behind a great defensive line. I believe and have always believed the success and failures of the majority of our ILB’s is more predicated on the success of the defensive line and having good outside corners which frees up the safety to assist playing in the box more in coverage.

we can’t play every ILB like we did Shazier and expect them to be successful. I do think we need a better running mate for Heyward other than Ogunjobi. I am good with the signing because it provides some stability along the defensive front but I don’t think Ogunjobi is the long term answer. More if a rotational piece.

the other issue is with or defensive philosophy we don’t really ask the defensive lineman to gap contain and tie up blockers anymore. They penetrate the gaps and that can be great when they make a big splash play but it leaves the ILB exposed and often blocked by the guard.

I do think a guy like Jack Campbell would be perfect. He is big and plenty fast enough and athletic enough where he can get off blockers but also cover the pass. That is what we need. You pair him up with Holcomb that would be a nice ILB core.

I’m not a big fan of Jack. He makes no splash plays, most of the tackles are five yards down the field and he doesn’t offer much I. The way of instincts or pass coverage.

    Sort of

They most likely will still address all of that in the draft but now it’s BPA at those positions

If they draft Campbell he will be starting for them. I’m with you on drafting a DT high and Campbell and a CB. We can draft a developmental OT later in the draft.

Chiefs got mahomes. I think they feel they can plug in anybody. Plus apparently they believe toney will emerge as a number 1.

I respect that and if I’m honest I don’t trust the decision also. But just do not see his onfield value vs. his cap charge.

I get why the Steelers did it because they didn’t know who they were gonna land at QB in last years draft or if that QB would make Tribisky expendable. Plus, maybe he would have a magical career boost too.

But it worked out for the organization and Kenny well enough that they shouldn’t need Tribisky’s contract anymore and the second scenario is where the team is. Obviously my opinion.

If Kenny goes down for a short or long duration I think Mitch’s game value is found elsewhere at a cheaper cost. Say Rudolph…

I like Mitch as a person and a player at about half of his cap hit.
