did Marshall Faulk just say the Bengals were better than the Steelers?

I think you are correct....we will not go to Denver (if we make it that far) and win. Not happening.

The steelers also need to think how Ryan Clark effects the team. If going to Denver and winning is something we have to do everytime we go to the playoffs and Clark is out by default, that's a big hurt to the team.

Maybe Tomlin should stop benching Clark. If all the doctors say it's perfectly safe for him to play in Denver, and if he's comfortable playing, who is Tomlin to say otherwise? Not sure why Tomlin is overruling doctors on a medical situation. It's my understanding that not only have the doctors cleared Clark to play in Denver, but Clark has flown to Denver with the team in the past and has gone through intense workouts to see how his body would respond, and he was jut fine.

So unless there's something we haven't heard about this, Clark should be playing in Denver.

A better record lol...thats only because they played last night. Once again tell me who won the first meeting. I do think the Steelers play them again next week and if the Steelers beat them I do think the Steelers go to the playoff regardless who they lost too and the bengals beat. JMO but you can't be a real fan cause look at all your post dude nothing positive. TTF please can you put all of Shaner82 post in one topic for all the poster to see that this dude is a joke. Its cool to post negative things out of passion for the team and I do not agree with everything DL do on defense or TH on offense or the MT bad calls but D*****

Yeah, they played one more game than us, but my point was they won their game and we still have to win our game for us to even be tied with them in the standings. Yeah, we beat them earlier this year, but the Raiders and Browns beat us, does that mean those two teams are better than us? Not sure why some people find it so laughable that the Bengals could potentially be better than us.

You're wrong though, if we lose to Dallas and Cleveland but beat the Bengals, we could still miss the playoffs.

As for the rest of the crap you wrote, you can shove it. I'm as real of a fan as you are, but I'm also a realist

I've always heard that the doctors were in agreement with keeping Clark out? Where did you see Tomlin was over ruling them? I think you are mistaken on this one, I tired to find something about it but only found some words by Clark himself, he said this before this years Denver game...

"This week is a terrible week for me every time it comes around," said Clark, referring to his sickle cell trait; the high altitude restricts the oxygen flow to his red blood cells. "I'm trying to turn a terrible week into something positive."

Sounds like even he knows he can't risk playing.

I haven't watched, but based on the feel I'd say the offensive players execute better.

If the Steelers just win 1 of the next 3 games and that game is against the Bengal we are in trouble for a couple reasons ....

The Bengals could also beat the Ravens and put us out of the playoffs ...

lets go ahead and assume the bengals lose out and end up tied with us ...

we would hold the tie breaker of head to head and be in the playoffs assuming no other team is also tied , do not forget the jets are just a game back and have an easy schedule the rest of the way ... if they win 2 of the next 3 and we just win 1 the tie becomes 3 way and head to head is no longer used as the first tie breaker ....

Looking at conference wins under that scenario the jets would be the 6th seed in a 3 way tie and both the steelers and bengals would be on the outside looking in ... the only way the Steelers are assured a playoff spot is to win 2 of the next 3 anything less and our chances are greatly reduced

You are correct on all counts, here. I have been telling my two friends in Cincy (both Steelers fans) that the Bengals and Browns have been on the come-up for several seasons. The Browns are struggling because they are one of the worst teams I've seen at managing the QB position.

The Bengals... Well, they get good teams every now and then... Remember 2005 when they shocked everyone with Palmer, Houschmenzadeh and Johnson? They had a decent running back, also. For some reason they only stay good for a couple seasons, then everything starts to fall apart. I'm wondering if the Browns can get good, and stay that way.

I had not heard any of this. It would be a great benefit to have Clark play. Source?

I don't think there is one, only a quack doctor would say it's safe to play with that condition in high altitude. People would see me bashing Tomlin if he stuck Clark out there like that.

I could be wrong about doctors clearing him, but I do know that Clark did once fly to Denver with the team and did go through an intense workout to see how his body would respond.

I don't have a source at the moment as I'm on the road, but I very clearly remember that.

See, I thought I remember hearing that because of the operation he had that the high altitude isn't a risk to him anymore. I admit I could be wrong about that part of it, although I can't help but wonder if I did in fact read that somewhere. I wouldn't just make it up. Maybe I even read it on here a while back.

I do know that Clark did go with the team to Denver and did work out with no negative results. I remember the Sirius guys talking about it

Whether Clark is medically cleared to play or not is irrelevant.

We've held him out a couple times because they've said Clark's safety is more important than a win in Denver. If we were to go to denver this season and play him now, they're saying that a playoff game is more important than Clark's safety (and it's not).

    Not gonna happen.

I remember him being cleared, too. I believe the determination was that the organs that posed a threat to his health in the thin air were removed, so he was no longer in danger or something to that effect.

Here are a few sources on that:

That makes no sense to me. If he's medically cleared to play that means his health isn't in jeopardy. If his life would be at risk, the doctors wouldn't have cleared him

But why? If the doctors say he's not at risk from his condition anymore, why wouldn't you play him? That's like saying if a player had a heart attack you'd never let him play football again even if doctors cleared him and said he was fine to resume playing.

Like I said, if the doctors feel there is no risk and if Clark is mentally able to play, then he should play.

LOL? They don't have a better record becuase they played last night, they have a better record because they WON last night.

You asked who won the first meeting with he Bengals so let me ask you this. Are the Browns better than the Steelers? How about the Raiders? How about the Titans? They must be since that is your measuring stick to determine the better team, right?

    Because of quotes like this:

"I talked to my doctors and we actually had a plan in place for me to play. All things pointed to me going until (Tomlin) told me I can't. He said he wouldn't have let his son play and so I'm not playing either."

A plan in place? That doesn't sound risk free. It sounds like they have to do certain things to ensure he can make it through the game. The guy almost died in 2007, I wouldn't put him out there.
